Electronic ignition

I've been reading some posts about changing to electronic ignition. Have seen threads about Pertronix, MSD etc but nothing about this:

Someone has experiences with this?

It's the same price as the Pertronix 1381A so where is the advantage?

I don't know..Maybe on the outside it looks more original? It all disappears under the distributor?

I just wondered if someone has used this option to convert to electronoc ignition..

No point messing around putting a different pickup in an old distributor unless you rebuild it with new bearings and bushings. You're way better off in the long run to go with a newer distributor like a Fire Core that comes with everything new. The body is sized correctly for all big blocks ( if that's what you have ) so the left head doesn't interfere with installation. If your on a budget go with the add in upgrade but be aware there may be slight changes in the air-gap due to wear and tear on the unit as a whole. If your on a serious budget, stay with points. If you do upgrade, use a popular brand like Pertronics so any extra repair parts are readily available should something go amiss. This would be a good time to change the oil pump drive with a new gear - they do wear ( the gear )and cause havoc when timing due to fluctuations and vibration in the distributor head especially at the pick up.
