Well.... It's been a year in the planning and many things have changed. Originally my wife and I were going to drive the New Yorker to Chicago and then follow as much of the historic route 66 back to California. That was before we knew that we had a new granddaughter showing up the same week were planning on leaving. Anyways, we decided to stick around home another week and ship the car to our friend's house in Saint Louis, MO. We will visit friends there and then join up with more friends from California that have old cars caravan back to California. Our stops will be Joplin, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, and Lake Havasu City. After that, if we and the vehicles are holding up, we will head to Santa Monica before returning up the coast to Half Moon Bay.
Today we had the car picked up and we will meet her in Saint Louis on Friday. From there the journey will begin!
Here are a few pictures from this afternoon before and during loading.
