The factory disc brake tire size for '66 was 8.45x15. Convert that to metric and it comes out to be 215. FWIW. I do like the -8.55 equivalent section width on the tires, 14" or 15", but feel that there's no real need for the P235/75R-15 size, personally, as that's the old L78x15 size. Just me.
8.45-15 is 29 inches TALL
2357515 IS 28.9 inches TALL
Seems correct to me...

According to the MVMA (formerly AMA) specs for tires on a '74 Monaco, an H78x15 tire has a "Revs/mile" number of 727 revs/mile. Working backward to find the rolling radius, that comes out to 13.8778" rolling radius. x2 = 27.7556" diameter (i.e.,, "tall").

The similar L78x15 shows 709 revs/mile, which is rolling radius of 14.2253" or 28.450 rolling diameter.

For comparison, H78x14 is 749 revs/mile, which is rolling radius of 13.47" or 26.94 rolling diameter.

H78x14 and G78z15 are approximately the same diameter, as is the G70x15. The P225/70R-15 Radial T/As are right at 755 revs/mile, as I recall, for reference.

FredNY66: You mention a few makes of brand new wheels that appeared to have the factory black steel wheel Mopar look. Which brand did you get? Do they work fine with factory hubcaps?

I am looking to get 15 inch steel wheels, and would like to just get new as well and match them with some factory 15 inch wheel covers (1969 300 seems like a good looking wheel cover to me).

I've taken what I've been able to find here, they are Wheel Vintiques. The 15" inch hubcap went 100% fine. But I found the powder coating of poor quality, as the center bore edges. Also, the center bore is slightly bigger than the original, which doesn't help when one wants to put the wheels back on the car. The tire size is fine, slightly bigger than the originals, but they look great. To be fair, if I had to do it again, I would not. I'd probably go like cbarge or pomonamissel with Magnum style wheels. Said differently, I don't recommend those wheels.

8” wide rim should probably have a 4 1/2” backspace.
My 7” wide rim is 4 1/4” matching factory wheels.
