If you are honing your craft 24/7, in the good old days I guess you could stay awake that long.
Ok, a little under three and a half years, at eight hours a day. If you were only playing an instrument, or singing a lot, I'd imagine there would be a lot of long hours days. My friend will play guitar for twelve hours, relax a bit and go for another twelve. If only he would sell out to commercialism, he'd be rich and famous.
Rich and famous is, luck and right place at right time. If you skip straight to famous you still have to go back and put in the 10,000 hours to stick around, those who don't are gone in a flash of the photographers bulb.
My buddy has put in years since he was 16. Dudes got skills, and works with some very respected musicians, they've toured with Steve Winwood, and other famous acts. But he pays for it, it ain't cheap to be a rockstar. But he's doing something he loves, and he enjoys it, so I'm glad he's where he's at.
Apparently they are.
“Performer” is probably more apt, yet generous, description for some of these clowns.
