I imagine that "single stage" means no clear coat. A wise choice since you can fairly easily fix paint damage, which is almost impossible to do well for a clear coat. Also, look at all the not-so-old cars on the road with failing clear coats.

Even the fake chrome on the plastic is intact. Never seen that before on one of these.

You take it wrong. That's the factory original steering wheel untouched.
The restored wheel went with the 4 spd new yorker to the new owner.

Ouch! That looks like an explosion at a noodle factory. I wouldn't want to have to do that job twice.
