L code 68 300 convertible fuel sending unit size

Hey all; doing the fuel system in my 68 300 convertible with the 375 Hp 440 is the sending unit the 3/8 or 5/16 ? hands

IIRC, the only cars using 3/8" are Hemi cars and possibly '70 440 6bbl cars.
 
Interesting, my 70 GTX has 3/8” fuel line and it’s a 440 magnum. I was under the impression that all 440 mag, 6 barrel, and hemis had 3/8”.

I looked your car up and yea, it looks like the gas line is 3/8". I didn't know that. I thought it was the 6BBL and Hemi cars and not at the 4BBL cars in 1970. That said, before I answered the OP about his C-body, I looked in my '68 Parts book to verify that the pickup was the same as the 350HP 440 (which I know was 5/16").

FWIW, my '69 A12 Roadrunner had a 5/16" line. The '68 and '69 Hemi cars I had were 3/8". I never looked much at the '70 B-bodies much as I never owned one. (Although I was a couple hours too late to buy a '70 Hemi Roadrunner, but I digress)

Here's the page from the parts book. You'll see only one pickup for the C-bodies (except wagons), but two for the B-bodies, one for the Hemi and one for everything else.

I do have to ask about having a Dodge Magnum engine in that Plymouth though. :poke: The Plymouth would be a "Commando".
 
I would think the chryco engineers figured the standard fuel line would be sufficient because a full size adult car wasn’t going to be exposed to the mindless WOT blasts that a teen dream muscle car would.

To ease your mind about my magnum-ized SUPER Commando Plymouth, my engine is a ‘70 350 horse C barge mill with a Mopar resto “magnum” cam in it. Oddly, Mopar doesn’t offer the “correct” Super Commando cam? I know, weird

Sometimes you just have to make do with what you can get. :rofl:
 
The 3/8 fuel line with 1/4" return was designed to better cope with vapor lock. IMO, they should have included the 383 but we all know that the almighty dollar made most of the decisions for them.
