Maggie and I had a productive evening on the car.
We pulled the seats out and removed the old carpet.
The carpet was badly sun faded and mice finished it off.

While the front seat is out Maggie gave it a good scrubbing and cleaning then treated the vinyl.
It is much whiter than it was when found. Will try a second round of cleaning the weekend.

When I pulled the factory original carpet,I found the remains of a broadcast sheet stuck to it.
(The first one was found in the back seat last fall)
The carpet and broadcast sheet was eaten up by mice in this area and the mouse pee created the cosmetic rust on the floor pan,
It will be cleaned and treated before installing sound deadener and new carpet..
2nd pic notice remains of leftover headliner from the factory install found under the carpet.

Absolutley blown away by how good the floors are.
This confirms what the seller said it was not winter driven..
Typical factory line workers left cigarette buts and leftover nuts and bolts in the car before the carpet got installed down the Windsor line...

I broke out the new carpet and compared it to the old.
Close enough.
We ran out of steam so we set the new stuff in the car to let it rest till the weekend when I finish the install.

Since the seats were out,I will be refinishing the back seat center trim piece..
So here is the before pic..LOL

I finished the carpet today.
Maggie had to work so we will put the seats back in together on her next day off.
I marked the holes for the belts and front seat.
The new carpet will need time to settle. Had a rough time getting it to fit around the front lap belt retractors. Couple wrinkles but overall better than the old infested carpet..

I also installed the headlight relay harness.
Part of ensuring a reliable car for my lovely girlfriend.
Frankie is a wide car!!
It may look crude but the harness is maxed out length wise between the headlamps, lol!
Relays are mounted sharing screws with washer jug.
Even with the old incandescant bulbs they are brighter and load taken away from headlamp switch and foot dimmer switch.

Back at it again this evening..
Maggie removed the armrests and window cranks and gave the door panels a good scrubbing.
Got busted trying to sneek a photo op Lol!!

Here is the original GE date coded sealed beams. Kinda yellow-ish even with the relay harness

And with 400 watts of light after...

Much brighter whiter light.
Same set up as in the BoaB and speaking from experience these puppies throw the light a good distance down the road.
Maggie does shift work that requires her to drive to the next town 20 minutes away. We do get a lot of wildlife on the roads and wanted to make sure she can see at night.

More progress on Frankie!
The front arm rest bases were toast so we bought a new pair. The rears I flipped from side to side and look very good.
Maggie cleaned the armrests themselves and turned out very well.
New ones would have been nice but they are very expensive and the wear on the originals is minimal--nice driver quality which Frankie will be a nice driver.

The car was repainted in the late 90's with base/clear.
Paint technology has changed since then..
In this pic,you can see the clearcoat is peeling off.
Anybody have any tricks to repair it without repainting the car??
I may start a new thread regarding this.

Last fall when we had the vinyl top installed, our guy who did the work accidently slipped on his stool and when he caught himself he crunched the speaker hole in what was a pristine package shelf.
**** happens and he discounted the job to compensate a replacement.
We got a tray from a 4 door but not the same and a lot of cutting to do and the speaker holes were different.
