I've been collecting these cars for almost 11 years and just noticed this today.

The convertible and the bronze 2DHT are the odd ones. The convertible is a pieced together train wreck. The bronze car is a 40k mile original car with one repaint.

When I first discovered this I thought the difference was single and dual, but not so.

Has anyone else noticed this with there '67's or '68's?

I still have to chase down the build dates on all of them. Maybe a mid year change?

Where are they located on a '68?

Thanks,

John

It was a year difference across the board with the Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge lines midyear 68.

Weird, it took me a few minutes to see what you were talking about. It's new to me as well.
At least with the two odd ones, they look to be in the same spot. Wonder if it is a difference in assembly plants, or???

Ma Mopar is well known for keeping us on our toes with with odd ball switches. Similar to Fratzog bumpers on early build 70 Polaras. They were discontinued after the first month's production. Thanks for making us aware.

If my memory is correct, the convertible was built at the same plant as the green 4DSD, black 2DHT, and silver Custom 2DHT.

Still have to chase down the rest.

Thanks,

John

Well I googled about five pages of each year of images and for the most part determined the following:

1965-all mirrors mounted rearward.

1966-a mix of forward and rearward.

1967-all mirrors mounted forward.

1968-all mirrors mounted forward.

So any more pics anyone can add will help to narrow it down.

Thanks,

John

**EDIT**:

1968-Should be rearward.

Thanks,

My '67 Imps mirrors are forward and the passenger side is really quite useless as far as functionality.

My 76 NYB's passenger side mirror is almost useless.
Somebody punched the holes wrong and the mirror was mounted crooked at the factory.

Well, I just went back and looked at pictures of the 68 4dr sedan New Yorker I had. It had dual mirrors, both mounted in the rear position. Wouldn't them being mounted forward make them harder to use? I haven't owned one of these beast for over a decade so I don't have any recollection. Here's the pictures I posted previously http://www.forcbodiesonly.com/mopar...-Hello-from-North-West-PA&p=213697#post213697

Mine are mounted forward. My left one is good that way. I wish my right one was mounted aft.
But we can't mount them that way cuz my OCD would kill me.

Both dual mirror Newps are forward mounted so I'm looking through the vent window to use the passenger side. It works ok, I'd like to sit in a rearward mounted dual miiror car to see the difference.

Like I said before, I've had these cars for awhile and never noticed the difference on the driver's side.

Thanks for the input.

Here is my '66 300 which came form the factory with a single mirror. It now has dual but it came with just one.
