New forum..old face

I got top dollar for both vehicles I sold to get the paint job money!
I drove the truck to meet the buyer halfway.
We loaded her up,then turned and burned back home.
New owner very happy with the truck.

Today is tailpanel day!!
My painter went on a weeks holidays and that is perfect since I myself had fallen behind working on the old girl.
I bought that time to hopefully have the car ready to go to paint when he gets back.
This is a long weekend here on my area so I will be thrashing on the car and keep youse guys updated!!

Test fit of replacement panel.
This thing was a ***** to remove without any damage.
Some tweaking required,lol!!

Tonight I have to clean up the areas where the panel needs to be welded onto.
While I am at it I will be treating the hollow guts to stop any further rusting. Obviously, the trunk panel is bare metal except where the tail light openings got over spray.

welcome , great job , and a two handed welder . very cool . i like making the pieces n parts myself as well . again great work , great color too . glad having you here .

Just caught up on your project, when your tail panel is finished and your painter get's back it will be great to see some color.

Must feel good to get rid of the cancer. You will like the TTI system. Put it on my Monaco. What mufflers will you use on it?
The mufflers that came with the system is Dynomax Super Turbo's. Luuuv that sound.

Good choice. I wanted loud and proud aftermarket 40's that you can hear coming a block away and rattle the neighbour church lady's windows. Frankly the novelty is wearing off and will likely go with something more sedate at some point.

Will be using this to seal the trunk panel and tail panel.
Doing it by brush to cover all the nooks and crannies.
Thanks to Polaraco from my visit to Joisey back in October!

The used panel I got does have a couple holes.
Luckily,it is the left side channel where I saved the original one from my car.
I stripped it down to make sure there were no holes in it.
Will swap this out before installing the tail panel as an assembly.

The panel before Jack cut the arse right off of parts the car....LOL
Note the trim that goes over the edges that will hide the butchery I had done!!

Today,I Prepped and sealed the hollow area's surfaces between the tail panel and trunk.
Something the factory never thought of doing.
Using a wire brush to remove any loose rust then brushed on the stop seal.

Next was prepping the good tail panel.
Good thing I kept the old trim to use as a guideline to straighten the edges from the removal process.
