After installing an Atomic EFI system on my Newport I have been dealing with some minor issues. Although the car runs good with the new system I've been dealing with some trouble codes ( DC INJECTOR ERROR ) . So the next logical step would obviously be to throw more money at the problem. The other day I finally decided to upgrade my fuel pump and replace my gas tank. DSC00138.jpgDSC00118.jpgDSC00117.jpgDSC00120.jpg

Butchering my brand new gas tank

Installing the new pump

The install went fairly easy. I still have to purchase a few fittings and a rollover valve and remove my old gas tank before I can complete the job . That will have to wait until next weeks paycheck.

Do you make a hole in the trunk floor for the top of the pump?

Nice work!

What kind of fuel mileage do you get with the EFI?

In a 4300lb c body With a 470 stroker .509 lift cam and 4.10 gear. Not very good. But the idle quality, throttle response, easy tuning and all around drivability makes it worth it.

It doesn't look any worse than the front end that originally came on the 73 model year. Big square and boxy so it could handle a 5mph impact. I want to put a 72 front clip on it.

Do you happen to have a YouTube video that we could see to hear it run and sound like?

The 73 looks better.....and more like a Formal. LOL!
I know. I was just kidding around. Everyone has there own personal taste. I prefer the wrap around bumper. They phased that look out in 73 due to pressure from the insurance companies.

What does that efi set up go for.
The MSD Atomic EFI runs about $2400 for the master kit which includes everything you need to run a returnless system. You can check it out at Summit Racing. If you plan on making any serious power in a big block I would strongly recommend purchasing the base kit for a little less which doesn't include the fuel pump and buy a better fuel pump. MSD claims their pump will support 525hp but I have been dealing with fuel starvation issues. That is why I decided to upgrade.
