New to me 78 NYB on its way but please Don't tell my wife

Seats unbolted straight away from the '67 Imperial when I took them out to get re-upholstered. Left the motors right in the car. No door removal required. 4 bolts on each side. 6 way on both sides. Heavy but manageable. Should get them back by the end of the month BTW.
I can't wait!

These are the heaviest seats I have ever seen.
I'm unable to take them out of the car by myself.
Did you take the front doors off first? :poke:
FWIW, I was seriously considering the cherry picker before I took the doors off the one I stripped. I had the car on the trailer (backward) so I didn't have to bend to do it... and I did not move them far before I had them on a table to disassemble into pieces a normal human can lift reasonably.

Back to it today and needing to get her back up and running to not be a burden to the shop.

First things first. But the carb back together.

You need you one of these. Tool for tightening the alternator/compressor belts.

Battery ground terminal in....

Along with the ground to fender and harness.

Now with the carb still out, time to finish up the heater hoses. Hoses came from Year One. I’ve used them before and they are the best. That they have the mopar markings and ribbing is a plus.

The top one to the core is the home run from the pump. It’s 5/8”. I found that the ground at the rear was unattached while working in the area.

The 1/2” was a piece of cake compared to the 5/8” closer to the compressor... and behind the idler wheel’s support plate. Just a little cut and out she comes....and......

.... yuck.

Some clean up and almost ready for new line. Took a small paring knife to the inside to scrape up most of the crap in the nipple. Then a gentle squeeze on the top radiator hose and out came the goop and other crap.

And so it continues.

In case your wondering how I got that first hose in behind the idler pully. I used one of these.....

..... to heat up the end of the hose. Yep, it’s an old trick but a good one.

The bottom hose on the heater core had one of these. And before you say another word, yes I should have done it first

Luckily I had a pair of pliers for just this occasion I got many years ago. It was cheap as you can see but it has a ratchet tang to hold it open while I pulled the hose off.

here’s a detail showing the ratchet and maker.

I used NORMA stainless clamps throughout. They also have a rounded edge along the band that allows you to clamp them tight without cutting into the rubber.

Here’s how much of the 5’ of 5/8” hose I had left for the home run from the pump and routing through the loop in the heater valve hanger.

Year One kindly supplied another 5’ of 5/8” hose for the run from the heater valve to the core. You get three 5’ pieces in all. Two lengths of 5/8” and one of 1/2”. Not bad for $50 including shipping.

All done and now to install the carburetor.

More carb trouble. Of my own doing this time.

My favorite part is putting in the needles for the main jets (not) but that wasn’t what was wrong.

after putting in the carb and getting the car to start after a lot of pumping, I knew I was in trouble.

the pivot bar that holds the step up lever had slipped between the bottom of the bowl and throttle plate....

lucky I didn’t crack the bowl. If it had a crack it would have fractured for sure.

Did a little clean up and found that the original coil is still in place.

Just ordered one of these... ok I’m anal.

It may not be the right year marking but at least it is the right type.

High pressure line from the compressor to the condenser was removed today to have it re-made. The suction line is fine. High side line was showing blisters in the outer face of the hose. Why wait I say. Should be ready Friday.... just before I go out of town.
