How about this maddening event?
Guy has a car or a part for sale; quotes a price. You agree and go to the guy's house to pick it up. That's when he says, "I decided not to sell; I want to keep it."
"Then what the &%#@ did you list it for????"
I've had that happen many times. Twice it happened to my Dad and me, a '63 VW ragtop and an Opel GT. Both guys gave a price that we agreed to; when we arrived AT THE HOUSE to pick the cars up, both said, "I decided not to sell."
Friend of mine needed an exhaust manifold for his '69 318 Charger. Another Buddy had at least 6 sets. I call him and ask if he would sell one. He says, "Sure, come on over." We were in Wasco, CA, the other in Bakersfield, 27 miles away. I live in The Bake (at the time) so I'm going home. Chris follows me to get the manifold.
We arrived at the house to find four sets of LA manifolds on a card table at his back gate. He says he will not sell a single manifold; must be a pair. Chris has no problem with that. He looks at all 4 and my other friend tells him what they are off of, and which he thinks would be the best for his Charger.
Chris looks them over, talking with me, and then says, "I'll take this pair; how much?" No answer. He repeats his question; no answer. I say, "What's your price man; he came all the way here from Wasco, you've offered him these sets, what's the price?"
"I don't want to sell any."
Chris looks at me incredulously; I went ballistic. Chris got a set for $100.
I just don't understand some people.
