in the 1970's when I was a teenager (still pining for the '67 Plymouth Fury my parents traded in for a '71 Chevy Impala near my 9th birthday.....) I had one of those Panasonic "orb" transistor radios, in orange, of course. I think it had a pull chain, and with two round, chrome dials....... I LOVED listening to the CBS Radio Mystery Theater.......on Saturday evenings.
I am part of the miniscule non-TV owning population, and every Sunday night, listen to a local (DC area) show called "the Big Broadcast." Johnny Dollar and Gunsmoke are long running favorites of mine. Depending on the film they cover, the LUX Radio Theater can be quite good too.
Mysteries are my favorites, Richard Diamond and Candy Matson especially.
