I have the grille removed from our '62 Polara. Attached is a picture of a Polara with a painted grill as from the factory and a picture of my grille with the paint removed and cleaned, not yet polished. I'm leaning towards leaving it polished vs paint.
Survey says.....?
BTW, I have another grille that I can do the opposite too.

This incredible work is thru the talented and gifted hands of Robert Newman in Birmingham, AL. BlueFury61 referred me to Robert and we've become good friends over the phone. He is a great guy and a true craftsman!

If you have a polished one, what's it going to take to keep it looking as it does now? Maybe it needs to be clear anodized or clear-coated to reserve it's current shine?

The paint was there for accent and to "hide" the connective features of the grille. Making it look like free-standing sections rather than all connected (which we all knew it was anyway, but didnt' want it to look that way). The flatter black paint on the core support's front side and the black on the radiator and a/c condenser (if equipped) helped that theme along, too.

If you put the black-out paint on the particular areas, you can always wash it off with thinner . . .

I would like to see the polished grill on the car too.
