Well I certainly appreciate the offer. I'll find out for sure tomorrow whether or not my heads are serviceable. If they are indeed trash (Gdamn ethanol) I will take you up on that. It would definitely same me a boat load of time and lots of aggravation. Many thanks!
No sludgy, Nasty, buildup anywhere. You could eat brunch off the surfaces.
Thanks, stay tuned.I'm really looking forward to seeing how it performs once you get it all back together, best of luck!
Yup. Just waiting for a few other parts and I'll be diving into. The biggest concern is getting the heads back on correctly...I prefer to do that only ONCE. I wasn't planning on using an sealant between the gaskets but I'm hearing from some guys who do it religiously. Im not sure if my FSM calls for that, I don't think so.Now the fun begins, good luck
Yeah the guy (Carl) started on them almost immediately after I dropped them off. The place is a family run business. When I returned to pick up my heads I met his wife who does the books. His brothers also work there as well as his son who is apprenticing I guess if you can call it there. Also has 3 other kids who are currently midway through college. In the shop there were all types of cars in various states of assembly or disassembly.....68' Mustang GT fastback, 70' Chevy Chevell, 71' Dodge Dart, Volkswagon, and a slew of modern type cars. Also had a whole bunch of engines that were either being taken apart or rebuilt. Got a couple hemi motors in there as well (older...392, 354). They are easy to work with and will do virtually anything you want or need for a decent price. I called a bunch of shops in the area before this place and most weren't interested in doing only two cylinder heads and/or if they were it was for an outrageous amount of money. So the experience I had here was very good I'd say. SamplingMan...hope you are getting this.
