Next weekend I'll be installing Firm Feel's Tubular Upper Control Arms and want to replace the strut rod bushings as well. It looks like I'd have to remove the lower control arm to do so which means I'll also need to remove the tortion bar. Other than loosening the tortion bar adjusting nut on the bottom of the control arm how would I remove the tortion bar? I know it's not recommended to use channel locks or similar and put groove marks on the tortion bar so is there a special tool needed to remove it or what method have any of you used to accomplish this?

Thanks -

I am 100% adamant in using a genuine T-bar removal tool.
The cheap and dangerous bastards will tell you to use big Vise-Grips.

T bar tool is best. There is a snap ring in the socket at the rear. If you are pulling lower control arm anyway loosen pivot nut and strut rod nut and pry everything rearward, this may be hard to do without a lift. I would change lower control arm bushings also they are almost always bad with any time on them. Never toothy tools or the T bar will eventually fail.

Not sure what this is, got it from the City electric yard.

I then put a 2x4 against the clamp above the bar and they popped right out.

The Miller Special Tool from Chrysler for that job is very much like the Classic Industry one, but much beefier. I know, as I have used mine a lot and it is pretty beat up now. But what you did is adequate and it got the job done!

That's the one I own so, yes.

Checked with Classic Industries and the T-Bar style has been discontinued. Does anyone have any links to other brands of the same style - I couldn't locate the Miller brand saforwardlook mentioned. If none available I guess I'll have to settle for the one 330dTA posted.
