I rent my building from a friend whose main business is photography and I pay my rent at his studio. Yesterday I walked in to find this incredibly beautiful piece of automotive history. My jaw dropped when I saw it!:wideyed:
Jus thought I’d share.

I was crouched down on a knee with a slight slouch and I was still taller than it or it was close anyway…

Later model with 2 headlamp system versus earlier quad headlamps. Should be a Ford 302 V8 in it.

Did you get to take it for a drive?? :steering:

Yes 302 4 speed. The same trans as the GT cars of the era.
I couldn’t get too close to it as I had been in my shop making dust all day prior to dropping off rent. One of the owners was looking at me like I was Pig Pen.
It had just come out of the Henry Ford for a stint.

Heard those were a ***** to drive but you have to love the styling, the headlights are very interesting.

I remember standing in a Ford dealer in the late 60s looking a new Shelby Mustang and seeing one of these hiding in the back corner of the showroom. I'm probably wrong with the numbers but I think sticker on the Mangusta was like $30,000 when the Shelby was $5000... Not many of those sold.

I guess 400 total over the run and around 200 known to survive. I guess they weren’t easy to control and a lot were lost in accidents.

This car, the Pantera and Lambo Miura were this kid’s dream cars back in the day. Built every model I could find.

They had an amazingly low value for a long time... I'm sure there were too many used as drivers or just used up for such a low production vehicle.
