MOST of the money went into the engine. Nothing fancy. Steel crank drilled for the 4 spd. tranny shaft from a pre-72 440. Heads rebuilt and polished. . 030 over. Holly sitting on a Performer. Keith, Comp, ARP, Milodoon, AutoZone, etc, etc, etc... $3k+ The bellhousing, tranny, flywheel, I forget. 3.51 rear... 40 bucks NOS motor mounts, transmission mount, I can't remember 75% of the odds, ends, and trinkets. Just too much over so long nickel and dimming me.
I got kinda friendly with the first buyer. He was super smart and knew his stuff. We talked a lot after the sale working through final details. The second owner became a member here. He was very disappointed with the car cuth he really wanted a Hemi Cuda. After that... Nothing. The only people that questioned my sanitation were the Fin guys. FWIW, the most help on the 4 speed adaptation were from some good guys on Moparts.
Agreed. He saw "440" and "4 speed" and thought he was getting a GTX on the cheap. Noooooooooooo.... It weighs 5,000.00 LBS!
Convert a Fusie. A walk in the park in comparison because you can use all the original Mopar mechanical clutch parts from pedal to throwout bearing.
How long did you have the car after you made it road worthy? Did you take any trips in it? In your estimation, is a hydraulic clutch worth the extra cost if mechanical linkage is available? (for guys with bad knees) Is your Kubota hydro static, and do you have any future plans to convert it? Thank you in advance.
It's kinda a shame the way it's been kicked around from owner to owner after the first guy bought it from you. Some one needs to give it the love it deserves.
I agree, sitting outside in Florida rain is a death sentence. At the price it's listed for, it won't likely be getting a new home soon.
I tried. I offered last owner $7K last year -- I thought that was fair but he thumbed his nose at it. Why do you think he passed?
