The saga of La Chrysler 1966 300 Canadian sedan continues.

Got the hood aligned and adjusted so it closes properly.
A friend of Rusty's can now cut and buff the hood to fix some runs and dirt in the clear.

Did the best I could to re-install the trim in the rear sail panel area.
The windlace has been in bad shape for years and now it is beyond saving..but thats not my problem, leave that to a professional upholstery guy.
Rear seat is ready to go in.
Yes this car has rear heater option, notice the duct work from the heater core box that is mounted in the trunk under thr package tray.

I would love to process the data on this car's fender and VIN tags--to help develop and test my free decoder project. First four on the VIN would suffice. Example below. Please post or PM pix. There is probably something to learn regarding differences, if any, between Jefferson Ave. Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, Canada tags as well as the cars themselves.

Will post the VIN/fender tag tomorrow.
Windsor biult cars did have unique tags.

Young Russel cleaned up the booth last night.
I Will be taking the car back to my place to finish her up.
Rusty's widow wants it gone ASAP and I am good with that.
When the car is home with me, I dont have to travel 30 minutes out of town.
Today I put in the new trunk mat.
Also gathered up any leftover trim from the parts car.

Thanks for posting. Very helpful for me. Most everything calculated out OK except the TRM code. In my US 300 trim codes list, there is an M1D-Medium grade cloth and vinyl Blue. The M2D on your car's plate does not show up on my list, so what color and material is on your car's seats. I'm pretty sure the number in the lower HH corner-under the "T" is a 5 and that gives the Misty Gold Metallic upper door frames. Is that the way it is? The "5" might be a "B". Any other errors or omissions? Have a great week.

Trm code is M2D.
Being a Canadian 300 sedan, which was not a available on the U.S., she has a blue bench seat interior.
Most decoders cater to U.S. cars which do not have some of the Windsor plant codes.

The letter under the T is an E.

The VIN assignments used 64-66 are one of the many reasons why one cannot associate VINs with production. They are administrative in function.

For Model Year 1966, the Windsor plant assigned a different VIN range to US and Canada cars. In this case, it is also not correct to use 'generally sequential' as a desription as that would imply the Canada cars (200,000 series VINS) are all built late in the year after the US cars (100,000 series VINS). We can document the Canada and US bulit cars were built at the same time. Their end destination dictated the VIN range. This car carries the 99,813th VIN assigned for cars built for sale in Canada.

Thank you changing the text associated with SO numbers but there is no 'prefix' or 'extension' to the SO. That description will not apply to specialty SO numbers for situations like promo cars, Special Order or other applications. It would be much more simpler and correct to use Sales Order as description of the number and use another place/time/space to explain the SO.

The 00 SO number also tells us this car was built for sale in Canada.

I know the history of the car from day One.
Built and sold in Ontario,Canada.
It was an ordered by a crown corporation ( Ontario Waterworks) and there was supposedly two other identical cars delivered.

The original owner was hired to drive this car all over Ontario.
During the late 60's building boom, the car saw political dignitaries, CEO'S of big contractors and the like.
When the car was decommisioned in 1972, he bought the car through the government auction.
He was the only driver of the car from 1966 til his passing 2010.
His son is the caretaker of the car with a teenaged daughter wanting to drive Grandpa's car.
The car has well over 300,000 miles on it.

First off, sorry for the loss of your friend. Also in you taking your time in helping with his family. Was the pic of the Riv going back to nature parked in Rusty's yard? Looking forward to you posts as you progress on this car. Always liked these 300's from 65 to 68 - just point it down the road and drive all day long: plus Mopar quality was excellent during these years. Your attention to detail your cars is always top notch. Missed you at the C-Body show a few weeks ago and hoisting a few beers post show.
