I'm trying to get at the ignition switch and key lock cylinder. The FSM shows a specialized tool to remove the steering lock plate. Anyone know another way, trick (or tool) to remove this or do I have to run out and buy this damn thing only to most likely use it once. GD this is so annoying...

Is it just a pin? Probably knock it out with a pin punch.

They probably don't want too much side force on the shaft though, so be careful. If it doesn't come out easy, you'll want to think about another way.

I kind of remember mine being a small snap ring down in the groove by the center of the shaft. Wrestled that out and it just slid up and out.

Maybe you could use a c-clamp and a small nail. You hafta hold yer tongue in the side of yer cheek just right though. . .

Yeh, I think its a pin. Couple other mopar sites said same thing. The shaft has movement in it so I can't tap it hard enough.
