Never noticed this on other regulators. For alternator noise? Thanks

Yes a capacitor to eliminate radio noise.
Wuth older points systems, the capacitor was under the distributor cap.
By 78 with Lean burn or Electronic ignition the capacitor can be found eleswhere.
Wheter at the distributor hold down or as you can see at voltage regulator

The condenser ''Under the distributor cap" was for the points and had nothing to do with radio noise suppression.
