Distraction can be deadly

I cant do my job to todays standards without a cell, e mail or text. I make 60 calls s day and answer just as many
Same here and that's what I told my manager but the decision was made at corp headquarters. Stuff will fall off the table as a result which in my business can get expensive. Penny wise and pound foolish.

We just recently were allowed to have phones with a camera in the Test Area. Do you know how hard it is to find a damn phone with text, email and without a camera these days?

My truck is my office, no LL to be had. My boss's know what it takes. Yours will find out soon enough

I've had that same problem when I go into different factories. Most now have given up on "no camera phones" and now it's "no pictures". I usually just leave the phone in the car anyway.

I had one place where I was spending quite a bit of time that was adamant about not having a camera phone. I needed a phone though, so I epoxied over the lens and that seemed to satisfy their requirements until I pissed off the head of security by pointing out a mistake that was in their "safety and security" video. I realized I should have kept my mouth shut when I recognized her voice as being the same one narrating the video. I had a real hard time getting back in that place for a while after that.... and there was no way I could bring in my phone.

Yea, I inadvertently violated my rule of "never piss off the person at the front desk".

She made my subsequent trips as miserable as possible. I always had to wait just a little longer to get in the plant and one time she flat out refused my taking my truck into the plant because it wasn't lettered with my company name.

All their contractors had to watch the video once a year. The first time I watched it, I was in a nice conference room. The next time I was told to park in the visitor's lot and walk up to the front gate (about a 1/4 mile) in the pouring rain. There I had to watch their video in a small guard shack sitting on a broken chair. I then had to walk back to the main guard shack out back (another 1/4 mile, raining even harder now) to get my credentials processed.

This went on for another year and then she let up and started being nice to me.

We eventually dropped them as a customer because they were no longer profitable.

Yep, we've switched to the no picture's policy. Yet, the young people still haven't figured out that the FBI will be knocking on your door very quickly when you post classified pictures of "stuff" on Facebook.

Its a stupid idea and a more stupid law.

The driver should be able to figure out when he needs his accessories, if not, he shouldn't be driving

A lot of stupid people out there driving......

They have been dumming down the north American driver since the 70's. Have the car do more and more for them, and you just don't have to think anymore. We shouldn't have any automatic transmissions, no electric windows, cruise, auto headlight systems, etc. You should be part of the vehicle when you drive it...not merely an auto pilot.

I completely agree..... and you cant find a vehicle with roll up windows and standard locks.... without cruise control. I wanna turn the key and drive. NOt push a button to start her up and look at a camera to back up, swing that right arm over the seat for Christ sakes and look over your shoulder

I took my cousins kid for a ride in my MGB years ago when he was about 5. The thing he was totally fascinated with the whole ride was the manual windows. He cranked them up and down the whole ride.

When anyone asked him if he enjoyed the ride in the convertible, he would say, "Yes, it was cool, you can make the windows go up and down by turning this thing on the door."

I like that story.......

My kids have trouble rolling the windows up in the 71. They stumble a bit on which way to go.

When'z the last time somebody parallel parked? How many know what the three correct hand signals are by sticking your left arm out the open window? When I relocated from SoCal to Michigan in '61 I had to take the test to switch my driverz license to get legal. There waz one statement written in the book I sware by all thingz holy that said when you're going to do a left turn, right turn or slow down, you should stick your left arm streight out the window to warn other drivers that you are about to do something. Gawd I wish I still had that book! Iz there any body in the group that took driverz training in a car that didn't have an automatic transmission, but did have two setz of foot peddlez on both sidez of the front floor for the driver AND the instructor? BTW, My little cell phone won't take picturez or text and I've hooked onto two more of the same phonez off evel-bay for when this 10 year old one takez ah dump! I feel so much better now, and without ahjelly glass full of gin and dry vermouth!
