Hidden location for control box?

I am planning on changing to an electronic ignition on Goldie. I had 2 failed condensers this summer and ready to convert. Mancini racing makes a good set up that has a factory look, but has a big orange control box. My question can I extend the leads of the control box so I can hide it out of sight.

I don't see a problem with cutting and soldering the wires back together with extensions. Where do you want to put the control box?

A customer of mine hide his MSD box on his 70 challenger under the battery tray on the frame rail. It just needs to get some air flow to cool it

I was wanting to find a location on the other side of the firewall. Good point that I need some air flow to keep it cool.

Under the battery tray is a good thought.

I did this mod on my 69 Super Bee...Under the battery tray and run the wires along the negative battery cable and tape or mini zip tie them to the cable . it was pretty stealth!

On my 67 Barracuda I mounted it under the battery tray, not really practical and I did extend the distributor leads.

On my CHP car I put it in the fender...

This works well on Big Block cars.

On my Other Polara (a 318 car) I just put it on the firewall...

Other creative places I have seen them placed, in the air plenum on a 70 Cuda (a 340 car), well hidden.
On the bottom (outside) of the floor pan on a 71 Dodge Van (a 318 van)

Hmmm.. I'm not so sure about under the battery. Batteries are very caustic, gassy,sweaty etc. Unless you have an optima gel battery then maybe..... just my. .02 . If it really bugs you in that Orange I'd do what the others were saying and paint it, but maybe paint it to match the firewall and mount it there?

I would paint it and put in plain sight as previously mentioned. When it comes time for no start troubleshooting....under the battery tray might be a problem.

Very, very cool!!!

My first car was the exact same Bee with T-3 Light Bronze paint. Also had the Power Bulge hood. Dang....I wish I could find it or even another one.

Here is where I put mine. Its mounted to a bracket that mounts directly to the valley pan clamp scrs. No drilling and you need a bloodhound to find under the air cleaner. Found the bracket on Ebay. No cutting or splicing worked out great.

Great idea but how does it handle the heat from the engine in that location? Is that a factor with this type of mounting location? Asking because when I turfed the lean burn on the Doba and went with the Mopar control box I seem to remember the instructions having a caution about heat.
