Nice. I would, but nah... I am struggling with weather or not to put together another fly and drive situation. There is one I want badly... but can't justify doing it... yet.
Dye everything black... you'd need new seats anyhow.

The F...in dash is the problem as it is for all the colors I mentiomed. Although I would consider leaving dash red and panels red put carpet and seats in black. Lot of work for a rusty formal at 2350, half that and I would be motivated.

It's really on my mind. But I would like eyes on it first to really give me a spot account of what it REALLY looks like. Pictures are one thing, talking to the owner is another, but I'd rather one of us eyes on. I think I would trust our judgment more than a guy that's just trying to sell it. If I drove all the way to Illinois just to find out the car is worse than it really appears to be in the ad Would REALLY PISS me off.

If it's a one-previous-owner and a claimed 25K miles, that should be easy enough to prove if there are any service records on the car at all. The miles are not hard to believe, but you can tell the car was outside nearly ALL of its life. I've seen magnificent 150K mile cars and trashed 10K mile cars. If he has any kind of proof of the miles, why not?
Ok so here goes. I know this car, it sat at Mclean's repair, on his lot, for probably 25 years. I live in Edwardsville, IL the home of Cassen's Transport. You have seen their trucks hauling Mopars out of STL and Belvedere for years. I just saw an empty one driving down the highway in Detroit the other day.
The car was originally bought by Allen Cassen. They had and still have a dealership where I live. He sold the car to Mr. Mclean who had 2-3 other cars sitting at his repair shop. A Packard, a Studebaker and a couple of other odd ones. I first noticed it 3 years ago and stopped to take a look. The New Yorker emblem is missing from the trunk and a wasp came out of the hole. I thought it had 27k on the clock but I guess it's 23k or whatever the ad says. About 2 years ago someone came in and wanted to put up a huge building so they bought Mcleans and tore it down along with a house next to it. The cars disappeared and I was told they were stored but the old guy wouldn't sell any of them.
It's a real deal survivor that sat outside nearly its entire life. At the time I thought that I'd be really afraid of that roof holding water and rusting through. The pictures don't show evidence of water soaking the seats.
Call the guy up and see if this story checks out. Anna is about 2 hours from me. There can't be 2 of these cars in Southern Illinois.

You would be in the $15-$20k to fix the interior and exterior. Very hard to find any decent interior for Formal's.
I say it's still a parts car or winter beater at best.
I definitely wouldn't even think of restoring this car.

I'm not restoring any cars. My Charger is about the only one that is getting a Makeover definitely not restoring I will leave that to guys that have a itch for details. I like a nice driver, if it picks up a rock chip so be it it's not going to be the only one. The rust pictured on this car would stay maybe a little goop in there to keep the water out the interior kills this car but if it were for the right price ($1000 or so). I truly am not in the market for any more cars, I've got a teenage son interested in the Charger, some major home remodel/build projects I have about 5 or so years to finish if I want this house on the market after my kid graduates, I don't make enough to live in PA and I make too much to be taken care of by PA. Lucky my job allows me to live anywhere in the US
It sounds like Mr. McLean has gone on but I'm sure his son is still in the area. He must be around 60 and worked with his dad at the shop.
