Quick and dirty? I think you're doing great... me being me... I would probably have just driven her as-is and used her as the workhorse she was meant to be.

Don't get me wrong, I moved down here for a reason. To get away from that crap!!! lol
Winters are just beautiful here! Summer heat can get a little old after a while. I Try to treat it like you would the winter up there. But the trade off is much better.
3 months hiding from heat inside, vs 5/6 months hiding from the snow/cold.
Sabrina was very excited to see that big old dent disappear!
I loved the patina the truck had. I would of kept it just how it was too, if it wasn't for the roof gutter. Can't leave it the way it is. Windshield needs to be replaced. If that's out, gotta fix the roof. If the roof gets fixed it needs paint. With new paint there, the rest of the truck needs paint.. I'm sure you know the snow ball affect! lol
Almost about done with the passenger side. Tried sanding a groove in the filler to replicate the seam. Need to sand it a little more.
Tackled the rest of the front of the bed. Again, not crazy. It's not seen. Just gonna paint it how it is. Function over looks.
The little awning came in handy again today, from the rain. Let me get the front finished up, and primered.

Got the driver side of the bed done up, as well as the tailgate jam.
Sprayed some paint yesterday. Like this paint! One problem though.. it's pretty translucent. Can't see the tan, and brown behind it. Can also see the black primer behind it pretty bad too. Thinking we're gonna prime the whole truck with brown primer. It looks the best, and has that burnt orange look we were going for.
Got the bed back on this morning. Giving it another day to dry before mounting it completely, and re installing the rear window.

Buy 2 gallons of paint and let me know when to drop off the "parts car"... you're sure to get her done before I would get her started... color looks pretty good to me.
I need to use you as motivation! Younger more done by 8am than I get done all week. Make that month. You're a mad man! Can't wait to see this done.

LMAO. It's been a long couple weeks for sure! Her mom is coming down in a few weeks. Trying to have it ready by then, so I don't have to hear about it! Plus Sabrina needs to get outa that death trap.
My buddy Johnny sprayed this one for me. Gonna let him do the whole thing too! Coming out good!
I'd be more then willing to help get her done up! Will be a while though! lol

She's going lipless. Was too far gone to save. Idk how, but the lip completely rotted away above the windshield. It didn't rot the inner metal, or roof skin. Just the rail metal sandwiched between the 2.
Someone did a hell of a bondo job to it before. They somehow managed to make a new lip completely out of mud. The trim fit to it perfectly too.
Just cutting, and grinding the rail off, and getting the roof, and sides as flush as possible. Then welding the 2 together. Actually going much smoother then I thought. I was dreading doing this. A coat of filler should hide any imperfections I hope.

When your finished most people won't notice the drip rail gone other than why is it soooo smooth.

I do wonder how the cab lights are gonna look up there now. Hopefully they will blend in decently.
I wanted to keep it. Just too much work for now.
All the trim is coming off. It's missing some, and what's there is not in great shape.
My $20 6 way power Tahoe seats are not gonna work. They are way too tall. Might have to get some cheap buckets online to work for now.... can see one of my Newport seats in it right now. Seeing if maybe those would work. But no.

You gotta keep the cab lights. Since it is a 2 WD put some long running boards on and light them up along the whole length.

If the Tahoe seats wont work what about Pontiac Bonneville from about 88 or 89 and up the SSE and SSEI had 9 way power seats. I don't remember what I was watching but I saw them pull some seats out of some import, Honda maybe and use them in a project. They had great side bolsters looked really comfy.

On a personal note, I think it's a pity the trim is going away. So few of these trucks with the higher end trim get to keep it.
Now that that's off my chest, I honour your choice and if you're going custom with the paint scheme, then perhaps a variation of the "Macho" scheme. Black out hood/ lower belt line and rear fenders tailgate insert with the yellow highlights (minus the "Power Wagon"kick up and roof paint). Would tie in well with the orange metallic well.
Food for thought. Love the truck.

I gotta say 300m seats are pretty damn comfy without being some crazy seat out of a road race car and whole 300m's are worth around $200
I'd buy 17" chrome wheels, hood and deck lid off a Florida car. Pay extra if those parts showed up in Carlisle
