Another orphan found our driveway...

You sneaky bastard. I'm a little jealous.

Shoot, I'm jealous. Not even my truck lol. Did tell her, I get the keys whenever I want though!

Ah so I really should have bought that orange truck... :BangHead:

If you drive that as is, will you have to learn Spanish? :)

I was trying! Oh well...

No Spanish here....

He'll just attach that Confederate flag and be on his way.

A Cummins swap will put this project over the top. Ultimate tow rig. Love it!!!

The urge has been there since day one, but the fuse was really lit at Carlisle. Walking around seeing all the old rigs with the 12 valve between the rails was just taunting me. Jeff, and I shared some friendly banter about it while walking around lol.

Been doing a ton of research on the swap. Everything is looking fairly simple. Modifying the core support looks to be the hardest part. Nothing a cut off wheel can't handle.

Did find a handy walk around to control the O/D in the 518 trans. I wanna retain all the '78 stuff. Looks like that unused toggle switch has a purpose now.

Yep, you may as well do it... you won't be happy otherwise:poke::rofl:

Picked the parts truck up, and took it to work, where I'll be doing the swap at. I'm outa room at the homestead lol.

Really should not have drove it the 20 miles or so there. Drivers front wheel/suspension seems to be held together by one bolt. With the steering cranked to the right in reverse it drags the wheel! Luckily it made it, with no troubles. Trans shifts good, and engine runs great.

Have a few parts coming in for it. Hoping to start the swap this weekend.

Jesus, in the time it's taken me to do a friggin timing set on my monaco (still not complete) you'll have made that truck perfectly drivable THEN converted to a sqeasel. Hats off, man.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it!

Nothing to show, but a couple teaser pics. Old Mayble is loaded with tools, and ready to go. Also got some packages. Been warned to replace the T stat with a cummins only part. Most expensive t stat I've ever bought lol. Also got the VE pump rebuild kit, tapet cover gasket, 3200 govener spring, and valve cover gaskets.

Couple more things, and we should be good to go.

A couple progress shots. Didn't get as much done as hoped. Worked later then planned. But the front clip is off. Unhook a few things from the motor/trans, and she should be about ready to come out.

Amazingly only one bolt really fought me! A Drivers side inner fender to core support bolt. Also had a hard time with the front bumper mounts. But, it is off.

Hopefully my cherry picker is tall enough!

The extraction went great! Didn't break anything, and only had to cut one wire. Amazing how easy all the bolts came out. No rust! The cab on this thing is impressive! If I don't find a home for it, it may be finding its way into the backyard lol. Not a speck of rust. A couple minor battle wounds, but nothing major.

On to cleaning painting, and gaskets. A job for this next week. I'm pooped.

Nice progress. Always envy the guy who has a shop with plenty of room to work.

I had to sell my soul to the boss man for the shop lol. He's being pretty cool about it. I'm thankful!

What's going on guys? Havnt been on in a while. Not a lot to report. Been ordering parts left, and right. Dropped the radiator off at a rad shop to be gone through. The drain petcock sheard off, and was leaking there. Hopefully it is the only problem it had. It looks fairly decent, as if it was replaced at some time. A new one is stupid $$, so hoping to use this one.

Also brought home a few parts to clean, and paint. Damn this thing is nasty dirty!

I've decided to keep it old school. It's gonna match the bluesmobile. Got some Mopar blue paint for the cummins, and hemi orange for the intercooler piping, and intake horn. I've got a case of brake cleaner, and a gallon of industrial degreaser concentrate, that I'm hoping to put to use tomorrow.

I've sold a few things off the truck, and hung up some new wall art in the garage. lol.

Hopefully some big stuff to come this week. Think I've almost got everything needed. Fingers crossed!
