Another orphan found our driveway...

Thanks guys!

I've cleaned a lot of nasty things in my time. Including a couple 40 year old engines, that have never been touched. This cummins hands down takes #1! Jebus what a mess.

Previous owner put an aftermarket oil filter setup on it. The adapter for the lines was barely on, and seems to have sprayed oil on the passenger side for quite some time.

I went and took some parts off to bring home for cleaning, and painting. Spent all day in the garage on these few parts.

The alternator has been scrubbed twice. A/c compressor is as good as it's getting. Fairly certain I'm gonna need a new one, but will wait till the time for a/c comes.

The intake tube has been soaking in the degreaser for 3 days now, and still hasn't touched it. Hands turn black just looking at it lol

One good thing though. Havnt broke any bolts taking the stuff off. Everything coming of nice luckily.

Some car ****. New water pump, intake gasket, and tappet cover gasket installed. Also went around checking the torque on the head bolts. All of em were good luckily.

Took all day to clean! I'll have to get it on the cherry picker to do the oil pan. Was not getting down in that nasty slop for it.

Sabrina's hands are much steadier then mine. Think she did a damn good job.

She certainly did. I recently learned of a good trick for repainting raised letters... Sharpie makes some pretty slick, oil based paint pens. Much easier to use than brushes and model paint ( if indeed that is what she used). I picked up a couple from Aaron Brothers because they always have coupons available.

I think it is amazing you got her degreased enough for the paint to stick, nice.

Those sound great. Probably much better for my own use lol. She just used engine paint out of spray cans, sprayed into a bowl, and applied with a brush.

Same here! Did have one fatality. Came into work this morning, and found the timing cover did not like the paint. It's peeling right off. That's fine, it still needs to come back off. Can paint it again separately.

Forgot to get more pics, but been keeping busy. Got the turbo cleaned up, and reinstalled. Resealed the vacuum pump, along with cleaning and painting it, and the PS pump.

Resealed the top of the VE pump. While in there I installed the 3200 governor spring. Also installed a Denny T performance stage II fuel pin. I'll go about turning the pump up, once I get the old gal up and running again.

Here's a comparison pic between the fuel pins. Stock on the left, denny t pin on the right.

Installed the killer dowel pin kit. Luckily the dowel hasn't budged yet!

I've got the front of the engine back together as well. Just no pics. Need to get some feeler gauges to adjust the valves, then she can be put all back together!

Valves adjusted, and valve covers painted, and installed. Was pretty muggy today. The paint didn't like it. Also got the injection lines re installed. Have a few small things left, but she is about ready to go in the truck!

Damn that's looking good Zac! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the pics of it going in. Great project

Thank you!

That's BADDASS Zac!!! Awesome work. Diesels were Chrysler corporate Blue? Or was that just your choice? Do you work on 75 NYB's?? Lol

No, she was originally black. Decided on the blue, for a more period correct look with the truck. Plus black is pretty boring lol. Leave the black for the GM products.

That truck is gonna be fantastic. Great work, man!

Thanks!! I'm pretty excited to get it shoe horned into the truck!
