This just opened near me. The track has been in storage since the 1990's . Malls are failing and store fronts can be rented pretty cheaply I would think. This one opened in a mall.

Lots of fun! I watched and raced some last night . Cars are fast!!!

I have my Aurora set still. I even found my 1/24 scale cars I ran in the 60's early 70's.

In 1966 when slot car racing attracted millions of Americans, typical fast lap on this type of track was 6.5 seconds. Today, the fast lap in this race was in 1.7's.
This is insane.
Slot car racing European Championship Finals,

Man that brings back some great memories! I had a 1/32 scale Strombecker set. Had a hoot racing on it with its big Monza curves...thanks for bringing back a happy memory!

Never got past the Aurora HO variety, but remember the larger scale tracks.

After HO it was lawnmower engine on plywood & 2 axles (2x4's) foot & rope steering > lawnmower engine on bicycle > homemade minibike > Cali bought kit minibike (Rod & Custom ad TYVM) > 1st Motorcycle > 1st PK21 MOPAR! (traded 1st MC as part of deal lol 'honda')

I loved those things still have mine mostly Aurora Model Motoring, tried to get my kids into it no go.

One of my favorite Christmas presents. I remember running holes in the copper contacts on the cars. Hours and hours of fun.

I looked it up this was my exact set. :)

Here are my 1/24 cars from the 60's early 70's. The red car is the old STP Turbine indy car.
These cars are old tech now!

Just curious, is it about how well you make your car and not about racing them? It looks to me that its full throttle and no driving skill. I think it would be fun.

Looks that way to me too but like anything in the very top of it's field they make it look easy.
The cars I ran recently were not nearly that fast, but lots of fun.
The cars in the vid you saw are wing cars and use downforce and side air dams to stickem to the track.

We had a place in my home town called the Que n' Car Club in the 60's early 70's. It had 1/32nd scale? and HO scale tracks. The owner sold a whole bunch if parts, car bodies etc. It was in business for About 4 years before going out. We'd shoot pool and race cars all day...what a hoot!!!

I had the tyco set they were wired opposite of afx sets we had some awesome crashes

Had lots of fun soldering brass rod and flat stock to make 1/24 scale frames with custom wound motors. I remember using oil of wintergreen to make the tires sticky.

My 21 year old nephew still races slot cars around the Milwaukee area. He has a group of guys tht are really into those slot cars.
