1978 NYB New Engine.....

Check fluids in the morning and shine up the shiny stuff and then go for a ride.

And give her a big drink of 93.....

I have a noticed quite an improvement in the steering feel with the serpentine system power steering pump and remote reservoir. Seems like a lot of slop and oversteer is gone.....or its just my imagination. Just reporting my observations.

That's very interesting ...

We need to examine this more.

The slop and the oversteer on these cars is a real killjoy.

I have driven about 125 miles with the new engine and serpentine system and there seems to me to be a noticeable difference in the steering. The side to side movement seems stiffer which I believe is better and you're not counter steering at all anymore.

I was on the Proving Ground today and there was an open roll on lift so I rolled in and did the first oil and filter change.

30 minutes and done!

Dang, I should of taken a picture....

Not often you see a Formal oil pan with fresh paint and no dents! Lol!

I am thinking there must be a difference in the amount of pressure between the two pumps, I remember reading something about Saginaw pumps and changing to different fittings or shimming the spring for different feel.

I have enjoyed 250 miles of pure enjoyment driving so far. The only problem I encountered is that some how I left the accelerator return spring bracket that bolts on the front of the intake on the old engine (gone now). I have the return spring pulling the accelerator linkage back but I don't like the way it returns. I'll have to find the right bracket and return springs.

Received the throttle bracket kit. Looks like it will work fine. I'll have to find the can of engine paint and paint the brackets before putting them on.

Went for a ride in the NYB this morning and the roads were wet and it was misting a bit. Wipers work great. LOL.:poke:

I have good tires with just 2000 miles on them. I have to apply the acceleration very lightly or the tires will break traction easily.
