1971 Chrysler Newport Custom 383, rebuilding in Europe

Fantastic  What was the interior like? Do you have to refurbish it or is the old stuff still okay

Hey! The interior needs new upholstery, carpet. Other than that it's in pretty good shape for its age.

Unfortunately SMS Fabrics is a total scam.... ordered and paid for the materials in march (with 2 week delivery!), and i still haven't recieved them. What a POS company, i wonder how they haven't bulldozed the place to the ground! Amazing...

Does anyone know where i can find a vinyl top for my 71 Newport ? I would like to buy a ready made piece. Please let me know, need one asap.. Thanks

Anyone know where i can report SMS Fabrics for not giving me a refund /cancelling my order? I ordered cloth fabrics in march with a 2 week delivery , paid over 400$ and still they keep postponing the date of delivery. I paid by paypal, and even though i wrote to them on several occasions to return my money they still haven't done so. Any ideas?

Keep sending them an emails, we order some fabrics to my friends -62 Imp and that was NIGHTMARE ! That was last time for me doing business with them for sure. Hope you get your fabrics or your money back, keep sending those emails...
Regards,
Mika

Can't you open a Paypal Dispute?
If it is not resolved via the dispute, you should be able to get a refund when you didn't receive your goods.
You'll have to hurry though, you have to do it within 180 days after purchase.

Well, 7 months have passed by.. so i can't make a claim on paypal. I keep sending them e-mails for my money back. Any other ideas ? I actually paid almost 800$, so would really like to get this solved.

Apparently bombing SMS Fabrics with constant e-mails gave some kind of effect. They got the cloth and sent me a tracking number - hopefully it'll be what i ordered and not some different s***. The cloth is on its way to Poland, same goes for the vinyl roof. Fingers crossed :) . With the roof done, the body shop will be able to start getting the car put together ....

I'd REALLY love to get this land yacht back on the road again, i know it's just a car, but with all the s*** i have to deal with this year it's like a salvation for me. Besides, i promised my 7 y/old daughter i'd let her steer the beast :) - she really has a keen interest in the car, and often asks me about the progress, sometimes we visit the different places which keep the project rolling.
I have this storage rented out, and she has a lot of fun getting lost around the place with my bits on the cart, she calls it "the maze" ;) . I know it may sound funny, but it really does bond us in some way, i hope that once she's a grown up she will have some fond memories of helping even in the smallest way possible to bring back the beast to life :)
The drawing she made when she was 6, is says "Daddy's car - with a spelling mistake" ;)

Update. Received Vinyl for the roof.... great you would think yes? No. It's in white. They shipped the wrong item. I ordered black.... no comments ;) . I wrote to Dante's Motorsports, hope they will solve this quickly....

I received the fabric from SMS... they got the right stuff :) Happy i finally got it, it looks and feels good quality. Very mixed feelings about the company though... horrible customer service. It would be nice if they said from the beginning 6 months delivery time, instead of 2 weeks...

Now I'm waiting on the vinyl for the roof, in BLACK :)

maaan that sucks. you´re really fast progressing with all your bodywork etc but then these stupid companies hold your progress back, that has
to be frustrating. but anyways keep going, it´ll look fantastic

Work in progress... a few bits done recently. Also, the handles got new chrome... they do have a few pit marks, which is ok taking into account their very poor condition before - happy i could save them :) Same with the emblems, cleaned and painted + clear coated so they don't oxidize any further....
Keep rollin'

Well done! The parts look absolutely perfect and the paint job is awesome!

Did you choose the grill surround bezel to be shiny silver? I think it originally had a flat (matte) finish. Could have been "Argent Silver" DX-8555. Some Mopar muscle cars have the same issue, so restorers of those have been discussing this detail.

Thanks for the positive words!
I didn't do any research on the headlamp surround, so wasn't sure if it was matt or in clear coat. I decided to go with metallic & clear coat because of the way it will look with the headlamps on, will give a nice shiny "exclusive" look. The c-body is an executive platform, so i thought it would be a nice touch ;)

I also received the correct color vinyl top in black, fingers crossed it's for the right model car :) Hopefully in the next few months the car will progress to the point when in the winter it will have the rebuilt engine put back in, new fuel & brake lines, new gas tank etc, new exhaust system. I'm thinking about single exhaust instead of true dual - in a 2bbl i don't think it would make any sense. I would love to have a 2bbl or 4bbl TBI inejction system...
