Anybody have any tips on what to use to buff out some haze and small scratches on windshield. I see all kinds of products.

I've been told by several glass shops not to use anything or polish on glass. It''ll mess it up and it can't be undone. Turns it into fish glass...whatever that means.

Usually the haze is bewteen the two panels of glass and involves the lamination. You have to be careful polishing the glass to much, it can cause distortion.

Over the years, companies kept knocking on the fleet manager's door trying to sell him polishing services in lieu of glass replacement. Not one of them lasted till their second windshield. It's 2013 and they're still replacing them.

I use meguiars quick wax on all my glass, to clean, and somewhat "polish" them. Works the same as the rain x above, but I usually already have it on the shelf. I love the way it treats the glass...

0000 Steel wool with windex or other glass cleaner on the glass for lubrication sake inside and out, then Rainex.

I can't say enough bad things about Rain-X but if you guys like it, OK.

I like it.....! I apply it once a month and never have to replace wiper blades, except for when they fall apart from old age.
It's especially good for slightly pitted glass... reduces glare.

Not by much...

That's the way my night vision is anyways. :icon_pirat:

Purely practical reasons. Actually not that bad night vision but somewhat below average I guess, think also a reason of training, I do rarely drive at night these days.

I put it on all my stuff including the motorhome. It just takes a long time to do it right. Clean the glass, apply rainex, buff, apply rainex again, buff again - but I seldom if ever have to use my wipers at all, even in heavy rain. Everyone else has their wipers on high speed and i think "it's just a sprinkle".

My windshield view looks like that WITHOUT rain-x. LOL!!!

Not too bad driving during the day but distracting at night. I'm on the fence about polishing the windshield. It's still safe to drive. I don't want to end up with an undriveable view. My track record with finding serviceable replacements has not been good.
