Brake Parts

Anyone know a good place to find the parts to replace the brakes on my 68 Town and Country?

Napa and Carquest both do not even show an option for front disk brakes let alone any parts for them. Also they can’t get half the parts for the rear.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
 
All I can say is stay away from Cardone BUDD calipers.

Check out Rockauto for parts. Rotors on Ebay, $299.00 each.
 
Not sure about a 68 but at least OReilly's has brake replacement parts for 1970 models and up under the "Brake Best" line. I have used them with no problem so far on several cars in the absence of anything else I could find new at least. The only downside is the bleeder screws on them seem to be metric and very small, but they seem to work OK with a very small metric wrench/socket but at least the mounting hardware is U.S. thread that matches original. Yeah, they are Chinese but like some stuff from Centric like rotors, their stuff is first rate and Centric is a Chineese owned company but they have manufacturing facilities in our country and one is within 20 miles of my house and they know much more about our cars that the old U.S. manufacturers we are used to who don't give a crap about our old cars anymore. I have dealt directly with Centric and was blown away when a white dude answered their tech line and really knew his stuff on our older cars. I was totally shocked at the customer service and the tech knowledge he displayed. It was that good.....................

I’ve got a 74 Newport parts car sitting here and am debating on just robbing the front brakes off it. I know parts for it are very readily available as they are the same brakes I used on my Charger.

I like the originality of the 4 piston stuff but am not impressed with the parts availability. I am gonna drive the crap out of this car and really don’t want parts on it that have to be sourced online and shipped. My local parts stores have all the parts for the 74 which also helps the decision making process.

I’m sure they are great but I can’t even get pads for the car locally. The car is pretty much gonna be a DD and even get to tow a trailer occasionally so brake parts are one of the few things I’d like to easily be able to source.

Any idea why? What’s the difference (other than the obvious brake system itself).

Apparently the spindles are different, and all the various ball joints etc are different. However, there are very do-able factory parts swaps for 65-69 Budd Disc equipped C bodies, using 70 - 73 parts which are bolt in, and save significant dough on parts. The biggest bonus is that you already have the one piece that's a challenge to find - the 65-68 Disc Brake booster.

Search C Body disc brake swap - or message me - and you'll find all the info on doing the disc brake swap. It's literally a bolt in. Best upgrade you can do on your car if you don't want to spend the big dollars going through your Budd disc system.

Didn’t realize there was that big of a change from 73 to 74. I have access to all kinds of 70-73 parts cars so that would be easy.

I actually put 70 C-body disk brakes on my 67 Charger cause they were cheaper then the B-body parts. Just have to notch the holes in the spindle so that the B-body ball joints will bolt on.
 
Considering the similarities of the Budd disc brakes and the 4-piston Corvette calipers of the same era, you might get yours rebuilt by a Corvette brake re-sleever/rebuilder?

I was in both the Raybestos and Wagner brake catalogs last week, seeing what was there. Each had or appeared to have all of the bits to rebuild Chrysler drum brakes in their catalogs. Might give them a look-see to see if they might have what you're needing for the rear drum brakes.

RockAuto can be a really good catalog source to see what might be around, if not a good place to find things. Did NAPA not have the desired parts in their catalog or just not in there regional warehouse? Just curious.
