Dumb things people did at car shows...

How about on the way to a show?

I came out of the can in a rest stop to see a pretty girl posing next to my 300 while her boyfriend took a couple pics. I stopped so I wasn't in the picture. All was good until she lifted a check to sit on the fender.

I yelled and scared the crap out of her.

She got right away from the car, I told her as she left, it was OK, just stay off the car. She didn't say a word... and ran over to her boyfriend who was with a bunch of guys. I fully expected to hear some crap from these guys for yelling at the girl, but men aren't what they used to be and nothing was said.

You know, there are times i have been yelled a by someone and your instinct is to get angry or to yell back, not to take **** from anyone but i think you gotta be level headed and honest enough to admit whether you were in the wrong or not. If i was the boyfriend of the girl and she did that, i know the right thing would be to stick up for her but at the same time, i cant justify her sitting on someones car like that. Just a lack of respect. So i couldn't get upset by it. Now if she was no where near the car and someone was rude to her, that is a different story. This year at carlisle, i was touching a guys car, i usually know better but it was in primer and i was just feeling behind the fender to see the side marker light cause i just bought one and wanted to make sure it was the side i needed, it is Still no excuse but the guy yelled at me. But i couldn't get mad, i was completely in the wrong. Im just a obsessed idiot lol.

That’s too bad. I got no problem with someone touching my car.

The funniest thing I’ve ever seen is some big shot at the Spring Fling in Van Nuys get Jay Leno’s attention about their car. It goes like this - hey jay have you ever seen a blah blah blah and if jay walks over to look at your car god help you if it’s a look but don’t touch. Leno absolutely touches everything. It’s really fun to watch the look at me & my car guy start to think oh my god how do I make him stop fondling every part of the car without looking like a complete jackass. You can actually watch them watch Jay and see it turn from a look at me to deal to fingerprint dismay. Guess I’m an evil person but I’ve enjoyed seeing it happen more than once over 30 odd years.

Had guys at the local Dodger dealerships ask me if this was a country squire . I guess they was close that is a wagon. :(

We have to remember Dan that the AH-UM employees working in all the dealerships today were being conceived by the grand parents of the those that were conceived by the Woodstock generation. How many reincarnations of today's transportation POS have been dumped on the public over the the last five generations? Try taking a carbureted '65 anything into any dealership and see how it's dealt with. Happy trails, Jer

There was a guy who parked his Avanti II next to me who spent his entire time at the show polishing his car.
He kept "commenting" how can I go to a show with a car that didn't have a mirror finish.
Midway through the show he started polishing my car on the side next to his car telling me it wasn't reflecting his car enough....

HALF my car got polished. HALF! :BangHead:

That’s when you pull it out, turn it around, and sit back, pop a beer and watch.

Crying dolls. I HATE 'em.

Made one for my '48 Chrysler 20+ years ago complete with a brown stain in the crotch and would roll one of the front tires onto the head and leave it parked there.

Usually tried to park close to someone with crying dolls leaning all over their cars.

Still have it in the trunk and I pull it out and shove it under the tire if I see another one at a show. Not too many of them nowadays, at least at the shows I attend. Maybe it's different at trailer-queen shows and cruise nights but I stay away from them.

And there was the young "metric" guy who saw our 69 Chrysler 300 and said.... I didn't know they made 300's back then! I didn't have an answer for him so said nothing.

Whenever I show my car I have a wood slate which has the story of the car on it, as well as photocopies of the original sales contract, and a few other things. (The widow of the original salesman saw my car at a show in Tulare! She enjoyed that!) On the story I state how the original owner would not buy the car unless the 383 was swapped for a 440. It's quite clear.

So, I'm at Spring Fling one year when this redneck comes up to my car, looks at the motor, then views the VIN and states loudly, "This ain't no factory 440 car!!" Since I was sitting in a lawn chair behind my car I reply instantly, "Where on anything I've posted do I claim that it is??" The *** turned and walked away.

Sometimes it helps to be observant before you speak.

I did a similar thing at a Mopar Show when I saw a '32 Ford sitting among the Mopes. I said, "Why is this Ford here?" The owner, likewise sitting by his car said, "Look at the motor." He had a 440 in it! Cool! But, I felt like an idiot!!

Had a woman friend that owned a '70 Challenger ragtop. She had it at the Annual Pismo Beach Show. She and her husband had gone walking to view the many other cars at the show. As she returned to her car she saw a scantily clad woman laying ON THE HOOD of her car! My friend has never been known for her tact. She yelled loudly, "Who told this ***** she could lay on my car???"

The photographer told her he was shooting for a known magazine. My friend said, "Glad you told me; if there's any scratches from your ***** laying on my car I'll send your rag a bill!"

It's probably better to ask permission!

You should’ve told him thats because his parents were still jumping around inside of someone’s balls when they first came out with the 300s.

Some DB gets his mod 60s Chevy whatever into the back gate at the Nats on Sunday. Has a for sale sign in it, it's on a trailer.
Walking by with a couple friends I say really loud "ahh man what stinks, smells like $@!?, oh there it is". Guy takes offense, whoa dude your the dummy that brought a Chevy to a old well established all Mopar event, back up and take it like a man.
