So as Carlisle draws near I am yet again thwarted by outside forces. So as I am rearranging the cars so I can get the Imperial to the garage my neighbor backs up into the car. He said he was going slow.
Sure….

No insurance and expired registration, driving his mom’s Chevy HD 4500. The rear door glass exploded and the hit was so hard I found glass on the passenger side of the car.

I will be filing a claim and I will likely be taking him to court.

What a douchebag, I say drive it to Carlisle regardless and deal with the problem when you get back (if you can't deal with it before). You might be able to take the door right off and take it to a body guy and have him pull the dent out. Deal with the imperfections when you get back. Sorry for the flesh wound bro.

The driver side is jammed shut. I went to my trusted body guy. He said it needs the door. I’m on the lookout for a complete door.

This was my favorite and the most highly optioned of my Imperials. It was all original and rust free. It made it 52 years and someone acting carelessly can’t bother to use his camera.

Never mind my car is just as big, and I have never had any issues. IMO it’s all on the driver.

Damn, I feel for you. I'm really sorry to see and read what's happened to your very nice original car. That's 100% on the driver. With that much weight he wouldn't have to be going very fast at all, but why even get so close? Forget about cameras, they've only been around for a decade or so, that truck probably doesn't have one. How about using eyes, mirrors, brains? Clearly he wasn't even looking.

Trying to see things in a positive light, at least it's not the quarter panel?

You can see how far the side of the car is caved in at the pillar. The door is obvious, the hidden damage concerns me.

@The_Eagles’_Nest — really sorry to hear. That stinks!

Would you go to Carlisle without the car? Several of us should be driving east from WI/IL

I have obligations to people who purchased parts from me so I have to go. Monday will get the ball rolling since Hagerty is involved. I will be lawyering up as well since this is my daily driver and I have to take Monday off to get estimates and legal advice.

I may take my Fury if I can get the thing fixed. I will see what happens. I’m hoping it sells at the Belvidere Happening.

So this ruins the whole summer, my body guy says he is now a one-man show and has 65 cars waiting. It may be months before I get in…

I was finally able to open the drivers door and get some collision wrap over the missing window.

It’s a good sign I can open the door.

I think she doesn’t but I think mommy bought it for him. He told the cop it’s his mom’s truck, so mom has no insurance, and can’t pay registration
Well there is the problem.
Doesn't matter. Probably none of your concern
It matters to OP.
Other than concern that the car is properly cared for.
And why is it your concern about my question?

Let’s be nice, everyone.

I don’t care about the truck or any of their business with it except it has no insurance when the driver backed into a rare 1 of 14,000 made classic car. The fact is it could have been any car that it happened to, just unfortunately it was one of mine.
