R.I.P. Bill (Fury440)

Ahhh, this does not make my day... so sad.

I have known Bill for at least 20 years. We got to meet in person a couple of times - once when I was out west playing (he came to hear me play with Jeff Healey and the Jazz Wizards) and one time when he spent some time in Ontario a number of years ago. Leaburn managed to arrange a meeting for the Ontario visit.

A very nice guy, a solid person all around.

My condolences to his family, and all who knew him. He will be missed.

I never met the Man, but I enjoyed his post's and thank him for his contribution to our hobby. Rest In Peace Bill.

I planned to have a little celebration on Nov 7th, nothing fancy, maybe a little sipping whiskey. However Oct 27th I was sicker than I've ever been in my life and my legs started to swell and hurt like hell. I fought my way through that but by Nov 4th the legs were really getting sore. My sister, a recently retired nurse, took one look and dragged my sorry *** over to the hospital. The docs suggested my legs were septic and the poison was what made me so sick Oct 27th. Then they dropped the bomb, apparently I had a heart attack and was showing signs of having a second one. Since Nov 4th time seems to be running in circles and life has been pills, IV's and multiple trips around the hospital for ultrasound of the heart, liver and legs, chest x-rays and electronic scans. This hospital is about 10 min from home so very handy. It's only about 6 years old and still expanding. At a cost of 5.5 billion it's a really neat place.
Anyhow, Thur Nov 14 they let me go home to full service home nursing care. Both legs are dressed and wrapped and I have a little pump in a bag to carry around. It's still pumping me full of antibiotics for the legs.
I guess my life for the next while will be controlled by an army of doctors.
So to the Fury, Happy F'n Birthday, sorry I couldn't be there! Save the whiskey, I'll be back!

Thanks guys!!

I've pretty well lost the last month with all this medical excitement. Just goes to show, everything on the surface may look great, but bang all of a sudden your whole world gets twisted all out of shape. Looks like I'll spend the next few months getting poked, prodded and tested but hopefully next spring I'll be roaring to go. Paul's busy making the Fury mechanically perfect so come May I will be on the road. Maybe I can do a delayed spring 50th birthday party for the Fury.

Maybe the guys up here should have that birthday party Bill was hoping for when the car gets back home.

So sad! His build thread and the story behind it, was one of the first I read when coming to this site. His knowledge and inspiration will truly be missed. Godspeed Bill!

Sorry to hear this bad news. I never met him but followed his posts over the years. He was one of the main standard bearers for our land yachts.

Laurie and I are deeply saddened to hear this news. Thank you Peter for letting us know even though we are miles away our hearts are with his family back home..Bill was larger than life and will be missed by all of us especially those of us in Calgary

I never met Bill, he seemed like a good guy. I did enjoy his posts, and his dedication to the C body community was obvious. Sad to hear of his passing.

I am choking up writing this.
Bill and I connected in 2005 when he found out I live in Kingston where he bought his beloved Fury and he graduated from Queens.
I sent him an original Kingston Chrysler dealer tag for his car.
A few years later,Bill and his wife flew into Ontario rented a car and met up with Ross and I at National Moparts.
They were my guests for 5 days at my home where they got to see the BoaB,I showed them around their old stomping grounds of their youth around campus, and I threw a big party I called "Carbeque"
I even found a correct 1970 air cleaner for his car.
We both kinda joked and egged each other on to finish our cars.
Yeah a lot of good memories as the tears flow.
My condolences to the family.
RIP Bill.
I will miss you.
