I just removed the gas tank to clean it out and I see there is no vent tube on it. I'm not overly familiar with venting systems on a '64 but I thought they did have a vent tube. I don't think the gas cap is vented. Any thoughts as to correctness?

Hi folks, can someone tell me what the trim adjacent to the fuel tank door on a 1964 New Yorker is? Pot Metal, cast aluminum, or stainless? mine has some severe pitting so I'm thinking pot metal but I would like to know for sure before I order some Muggy Weld. Thanks
