1979 Dodge Magnum XE GT. This is an immaculate car. 91,000 miles. I am selling this car for my father-in-law as he can't drive anymore. He is the second owner of the car. This first owner was his best friend. This car has been babied it's whole life. It's been kept under a cover in a garage. I've never seen this car dirty in my life. The entire suspension and brakes have been gone through and are in like new condition. The motor is all original with the fluid being changed every 3,000 miles. After sitting for 4 years I put fresh gas in it and it fired right up and ran like a top (this was in March 2017). This is a t-top car. Has the XE and GT package with the larger 4 barrel 360 engine. I have all the maintenance records on the car going back 20 years at least. There are two flaws on the car. The one on the exterior is the driver's side rear fender flair. It was bushed up against and was scratched (pictures included). I have a new replacement flair that just needs to be painted and installed. The minor scuff ahead of the flair on the actual body can be buffed out. The flaw in the interior is a small tear on the driver's seat just from normal wear and tear over almost 40 years. Please contact me with any questions. The car can be seen the week of 3/6 through 3/9. After that arrangements will have to be made to view the car.

Wow I love it! SS22L9R kinda seems familiar for some reason....

Beautiful car.
XS is for the magnum and SS is cordobas. My 78 magnum even has "XS" stamped on the (I think it is called) trunk extension...the metal that extends from the trunk and connects to the rear quarter panel. I think that is odd because as far as I can tell the fenders and QP's are the same.? "X" was also used for the charger. I didn't know you could have both the GT and XE trim levels/models.

Same prefix vin would be a Charger R/T with a 440.
Guess that makes sense since Magnum replaced Charger.

Looks like a GTO got stuck under the spare tire.

The triple black car with the big block has it all over this one though. Im not sure I could buy this knowing the other car is/was available

I owned a '79 Magnum GT from 1981 to 1984? It was Nightwatch Blue with grey vinyl interior, T-tops, premium 360 engine etc. My car did not have a vinyl top though. A friend of mine had a '78 Aspen Super Coupe (same drivetrain on a lighter car) and we would occasionally race to the bar for a drink or two inbetween classes at College. I won every time by a half car length or more. From that time on I called his car the "Chicken Coupe" A different friend has one now and I continue the same nick name on his car.

P.S. I traded even up my Magnum for a '67 Satelite with a Hemi, kept that a few years and needed money to finish school so it went bye bye.

Youre kidding? Hell of a trade. Even in 1980 I knew Hemis were something special and never would have traded one away

The car was loaded and it was featured in a magazine much later and another owner sold it on Barrett Jackson about five years ago for 80k. Not that much after a complete restoration. The did not like it because it had a replacement block and the original one blew up when close to new.
