I wonder what it is bout the car that makes people wanna sell so soon after buying it.. I think is cool and unique. But ever since Stan sold her, she’s been passed around like a Hair Brush on picture day.. Hmmm
Hi John, Stan is unlikely to want to answer this, but here are some of the unfortunate facts about this car. Stan had warmed the engine during rebuild, bumped compression a bit... then one of the earlier purchasers decided it would be a good idea to run N2O through her.
Rough chronological order... built and beautiful, sold to the guy who loves stickers and scoops, sold to someone else who thought she needed laughing gas, sold as a hurt but running car to various speculators with little knowledge (remember the one who wanted to pass her off as original?), stored unlovingly outdoors for too much of the time along the way... I really can't separate all of the owners, and possibly have counted the sins of one as two different people, but I probably missed several owners along the way.
The fella who bought her from Stan was a member her, but I don't think has had the guts to comeback in and speak about her since shortly after he butchered the hood. The car still isn't and never will be exactly what you'd call fast... really good for a Formal is way different than rocking the drag strip. Non of the others have made an appearance here so far as I know. Likely a few found us, but read enough to know they wouldn't become instant heroes for buying her, and slinked off to less knowledgeable parts of the internet where they might receive praise.
Right now, she isn't so bad... but she has been outdoors too long and rust has started at every body seam, the top needs replaced, really she needs just too much work/money into cosmetics to be worth a penny over $5k, and 5k accounts for a well working driveline (I have serious misgivings regarding the quality of work performed during her last rebuild).
In Ocala this year...
