BIG Block Engine pics.... Lets see them!

The newest addition to the CBarge fleet..
Allegedly 1 of 153 Canadian built 1967 Dodge Monaco 500 fastop Factory L code 440 Magnum 727 3.23 Sure Grip car.
Has the bigger valved 915 closed combustion chamber heads, factory spec lumpy cam, HP manifolds, dual snorkel air cleaner, and factory chrome valve covers.
She runs great but there is always room for improvement but mainly need to correct details under the hood.

I remember that car being FS. Cool that someone on FCBO scored it.

Here’s a couple more big blocks I have……

This one is a G383HP with a build date of 9/11/70. I ran this in my car for many years - several years with a dual 4 setup from a late 50s 350ci. Golden Commando. Here’s a picture from “91 with that induction setup.

Here it is almost 30 years later on the run stand. It still runs great - still has less than 20k miles on it.

Here’s a “69 440 I wanted to build for my car, that’s why I bought it. After I had it prepped for the machine shop to bore .030, I noticed it didn’t have provisions for the left engine mount. I had to use the “74 440 engine purchased many years early.

There’s more, 2 more 383HPs (bare block and short block) and lots of parts and automatic transmissions.

If interested, there’s a thread on here I started years ago of doing my “65 SF over. In June of “23 I’ll have owned the car for 44 years. It is my first car.

@MEV
Nice mention on the Hemi conversion on the RB - haven't heard/seen of those in years. I had actually glossed right over it at first.
On 2nd look I saw the hydroboost stuff, too.

I love seeing built motors in C bodys!

MEW, assume those are Stealths? Any porting?

Rick- what headers are those? TTI’s? How is the plug clearance with the Trick Flows?

My 440 has ported 906’s, I want to upgrade to an aluminum head but am worried about plug clearance with the angled plug Trick Flows (or Indys, or Edelbrocks). I’m a nitrous guy so I need to swap plugs all the time, lol

Thanks guys!!

Yes, They are full cnc ported by modern cylinder head. And my exhaust is the full TTI headers, pipes, mufflers etc.

Those are Hooker super competition, headers and Trick Flow heads and cam. All Roller rocker. The clearance of a spark plugs are OK. You can get at them some are not fun. The engine was not ported. It is bored 30 over. Those headers fit my 78 New Yorker with a mini starter. It fit with the original starter but you literally had to take it apart into pieces to get the headers in or out. It also has a Holley Snipper EFI. The picture of the EFI was before I built the engine.

Awesome, thanks guys. I have those same Hooker headers on mine, if they fit with angled plugs that at least saves me the expense of TTI’s initially although I would love their full system eventually.

Are you happy with the Sniper?

225hp 440 in my 72 Imperial. It was partially disassembled about 15 years ago. I cleaned the rust out of it, and got the top end put back together. I will try to fire it up when I get my carburetor rebuild kit in.
