I agree with the Deoxit. You can also buy it diluted with contact cleaner in an aerosol can, which may be more convenient depending on your preference.

Remove and wire brush, Deoxit or emery cloth.

Soak in thinner or brake cleaner to remove all oil and then overnight on citric acid or shorter dip into phosphoric acid. I guess that day or two in coca cola might do the job too after good degreasing.

Remember to rinse well after acid dip. Could add some baking soda to rinse water to neutralize the acid more thoroughly

Yes I am lazy and try to avoid physical labor whenever possible
