Critters other mistress..1970 Plymouth Fury 3

Chrysler never used red heater hose . I hope they are not perceived as criticism of your great work...I don't know if you're after a "factory correct" look.

I'm intrigued by the rattle can factory paint. Where was that from?

not to worry...hose was on car when l bought it...hose still shows as good so will continue to use...this cars to be a driver to enjoy and have fun with...honestly am not worried about correct anything with this car...granted will keep everything oem where and when l can...went through the "correct phase" with the GT

paint l had matched up through local supplier but was basically PPG paint...first time using it...had 3 spray cans and a pint made up...spray cans are stand alone deals whereas the pint needs reducer and hardener...again is a tight rein on what l can use in the garage re power tools or equitment...use a small airbrush compressor for the basics as its quiet...spray cans were just for ease of use on a large limited area....if l had a garage like some here would be totally different story and then some but as it stands now am content with what l have...

looks nice, but where is the carb? :poke: :)

Critter was that motor really clean? How did you get it clean enough for the paint tostick?[/QUOTE]

clean...lol...l wished...whole underside was covered in 40+ years of oil, grease and dirt ...like l said at the start 1 inch at a time...scrap excess oil dirt and grease off...then hit it with

patience and perseverance

welp decided to remove my driveshaft to check out ujoints and make access to driveshaft tunel easyer...trouble was cars on a angle...front high back low...tranny drained and l got a sock and bootfull before l managed to get out from under there with darn driveshaft on my chest
drive shaft joints show and move as new so am not touching them...driveshaft done

also started coating underneath car...any exposed metal or rusted areas were prepped then hit with Metal Blast then Rustbullet to seal it then hit with undercoating to seal all back up...95 % of the undercoating was still present and in great shape so clean up underneath is a brezze so far...

inside of tank looks like sender...float on sender had actually totally disappeared...looks like tank will be going to local rad shop to see if theres anything they can do for interior...think their cost is almost as close as a new tank...we'll see over the next few days

these two little catch areas for straps are a main cause of rusting around that area as they collect dirt ect...cleaned them out...sometime next summer on a realy warm day need to blast dirt and dust out of catch points in frame that l cant reach with air and water...if l had the time & the place..would rip the whole thing apart and have it dipped

Very nice work....I am enjoying watching you as you make progress.

I would definitely go with a new tank. Spectra tank are made in Canada but for some reason they are way cheaper in the States.

Keep up the great work.

Dave

thank you sir.. l do the best l can with what l have ...local rad shop quoted me 400 can..if l can get one in for that will go for it...other one was us company 327 us plus shipping ect would put me in the 500 can $ range with exchange at a time lm tryin to do this on the cheap...ah well...new sender...new tank sounds good...dam it...old tank looked great on outside to...ah well such is life...

rockauto.com is charging $445 CAD included shipping to Calgary Critter.

I don't see the point in fooling with the original tank when the numbers are that close... IF the new tank is the same gauge metal and fits correctly, you would be far ahead to start from there. IF the radiator shop service includes an ethanol resistant coating... that might change my mind.

Whatever you do... she's looking good Critter:thumbsup:

Will probally go new....but have noticed in a pinch the satalite cornet tanks are dam close to original and 2 vent style but is 19 gals opposed to oems 22..24 ?..thier only 3 inchs smaller and a heck of a lot cheaper around 150 us ...looking 450 plus if l get dinged with brokerage ect....bloody border
