An interesting car... but she needs a thorough bottom inspection after field sitting for so much of her life.

To me, if you're a Mopar guy, especially an ABE musclecar guy, you need that in your collection to tell the whole story.

That area of New York is smack dab in the middle of the "snow belt" south of Buffalo. I'd be a little suspect of the underneath also. They use tons of salt up there.

Agree on the inspection, agree that black paint would hide a lot of rust sins... BUT it does appear to be wearing original paint as evidenced by the factory stripe that no one ever replaces.

Definitely worth a look.

It does need to be saved, neat car.

I wonder: What was the original color? Somehow, a blue interior in a black car just doesn't seem right. . .

remember to add...$5k for paint job (w/o any major rust repair), $2k for interior, $1200 for new vinyl roof, $1500 for tires and normal mechanical repair, plus shipping to your place???? now add his 3k price= reality. It would also not be unrealistic to add 15% to those numbers for cost overruns and surprises. What is a number 3 or 2 condition car worth in comparison. Will someone just buy it for the motor for their B body project.....time will tell.

Agreed but if you're into C-Bodies for the return on investment, get away from C-Bodies. It's probably not going to happen in our lifetime.

I've seen it a few times, especially on luxury cars. I think a member has a '74 NY owned by the secret service in the same combo.

I wonder: What was the original color? So how, a blue interior in a black car just doesn't seem right. . .

I was thinking the same thing, If I'm special ordering a black w/black vinyl top 71 NY'r, I'm going to go with black interior. IMO the blue interior would have been an odd choice.

A proper description. No platitudes or pie in the sky crap.

1971 Chrysler New Yorker 4dr Hardtop (pillar-less). Original 440 TNT HP engine. Sat for about 7 years. Runs fine, needs tires (rotted). I just changed the oil and cleaned the carb. Idles fine. Has about 96k +/-2k miles. I can't remember exactly. Was running regularly as a fair weather driver till 2010-2011.
Car is originally from the Coroapolis, PA area. I bought the car in 2003 from a guy in MD who bought it from the original owners family. Prior to him buying it the car sat since 1980. The car was specially ordered by a preacher who wanted to tow a trailer ordered the biggest engine available. The story that I remember was that he gave the car to his daughter, she got a divorce and it sat in a field on her and the ex-husbands property in Pennsylvania for about 20 years. It had a heavy custom receiver and an old Kelsey Hayes hydraulic brake controller when I bought it. I changed the carb to a Carter 750 AFB right after I bought it due to severe driveability problems with the original one that was recently rebuilt before I got it. It also had a new 2.5" dual exhaust done which is still very nice and solid with the small 2 chamber Flowbastards that I intended to change out for Turbo's but never did. It's very loud right now for a stock engine. The car is very solid, no real rust to speak of. Interior is pretty decent, a few dash cracks, (that weren't there when I bought it). rear seats are nice, Front can use reupholstery, material is available from SMS.
When I moved from the DC area in Dec 2004 I drove this car to NY and sold it to my Father in order to get rid of some cars during the move. He mentioned he wanted to sell it in the fall of 2013 so I bought it back from him and it basically sat in his yard. I would have liked to restore it but I have too many projects going on. I sort of regretted selling the first time just because of the usual options, rarity and history but you can't keep everything.
A few things worth mentioning, NY State does not 'Title' cars before 1973. They have a 2 part transferable Registration. I have that. Thats what DMV calls that the Title. It's all proper and legal. The car needs to be picked up in NY. I live in Ohio. If you need assistance I can help but need notice. It's 4 hours away from me. This car needs to be transported. It does run and move but hasn't for a long time. Also you wouldn't get very far on the tires.
Let me know if you have any questions or call me at 2162196666 til 10pm. I'm probably only going to list this car once due to the cost. Have your money ready if you bid. Payment is expected within 5 days from the conclusion of the auction by cash in person or cashiers check. If you 10 or less feedbacks or the worldwide 'scam zone' countries I will cancel your bid. This isn't my first rodeo.

Flowbastards

yeah, i think that would a shame for the engine not to stay with the car, assuming it's able to be saved......

Nice car. Needs a lot of work though.

Most Chryslers sold in Finland back in the day were black sedans with blue cloth interior. They used to sell say, 10 New Yorkers, 10-15 Newports, and an occasional one or two 300’s and Imps. Yearly. Most cars were sold to big companies which used them as chauffered ’limos’ for their top brass. Any other color than black was considered a rarity, and tough to sell.

Originally from Coraopolis PA, a community just west of Pittsburgh. Even a few years here it would have started to rust unless it was garaged all winter long. Cool car though. For me I could never buy something like that sight un-seen.
