Engine cradles

I have a large four wheel stand from HF. I like it. It held my fully loaded 440 with no issues. I will use the 2x4 trick in the future though.

If I had it to do over I would get a four wheel stand with a crank for turning the motor.

As always, be extremely careful with large weights above your toes.

Personally I use 2"X12" and make a box for the engine to set in. Make your measurements so the pan flange will "bite in" front and back and side to side on the 2" width and put the 4 sides together with 4" wood screws(the ones that are T-20 torx head) 3 per side connection so you need 12 screws totally and pre-drill the holes 1/2 the distance of the screws length. I've been transporting BBs /6s and 2.5L in pickups and Maxi Vans in cradles like I just described for 40+ years. If I want to roll them around the Play Pen, I've made dolly's out of 2" angle iron cut and welded to fit the cradles and welded 3" steel swivel casters w/ brake locks on all 4 corners and I doubt I have $50 total in the 3 sets I have made, Jer
