Here's one from the 'Your-guess-is-as-good-as-mine' department. Found these in with some other old pics. Research on the web turned up precious little. I do know in the early 1930's, Plymouth introduced

, a way of isolating engine vibrations from the rest of the car. Kind of a big deal at the time. My guess is, this was some kind of publicity stunt done to promote that. Date unknown, guessing mid-1930's.

And this must have been the first armored troop carrier.

There have been several articles on Floating Power in the WPC News, as I recall. Something I read the other night said it was "aircraft inspired". Was basically the first automotive mass production use of rubberized engine and transmission mounts. Placement was a part of the deal, too. Different than just a rubber isolator block, as I recall.
