    I have a 67 fury wagon with a 69 440HP motor in it out of a RR.
I want to pull the HP manifolds off and install headers.
What headers have fellow wagon owners installed?
    Part numbers?

What headers have I put on my wagon? That's an easy one...none!

I don't have any burnt plug wires, or leaks either!

Not sure what you're after. I can't claim to be an expert but, everything I've read, the difference between the HP manifolds and even the best headers is negligible. Unless your serious racing and need that and that and the weight reduction. I'd stick with the HP.

Agree, Nick's garage recently did a test and the Headers and HP manifolds were virtually identical- both much better than stock.

Maybe save your money for something which will make a difference?

Best wishes with your wagon whatever you decide.

Not sure what video you saw but the one I saw showed 30+ horsepower difference between HP manifolds and headers.

The one that was close was between Maxwedge manifolds and headers. Not quite the same thing. Reproduction Maxwedge manifolds are $1200. I have yet to find someone that can tell me they will fit a Cbody.

Thanks Kevin, that's the one I was thinking of.

Seems like I recall reading, back then, that the MaxWedge manifolds would not clear the power brake booster. But that was on the '62 cars, I believe?

Just because the popular Brand X small block NEEDS headers on them, does NOT mean that the Chrysler HP manifolds (i.e., 440/375 and 383/335) are not any good. After all, the '90s Chevy LT1 350s, once you got past all of the three layers of heat shielding, had a slightly smaller version of the Chrysler HP manifolds hiding in there. IF GM went to the trouble to copy the Chrysler design, it must be good. Especially as they went to great lenghts to hide them under so much heat shielding!

After watching that video of Nick's a while back, I came away a bit underwhelmed. That particular engine did sound happier with the headers, but none of the combinations were optimized as to carb jetting and such. Might be good for a general test, but no data that I would desire to quote numbers off of, fwiw.

    Just some thoughts,

Maxwedge manifolds had problems heating up the master cylinder apparently. Most applications i saw pics of was a one reservoir master with no power brakes i guess to keep it out of harms (or heat's) way.
