Got you, I think I should replace the head gaskets and go back to stock. I hope in the next few yrs I'll be able to drop in a fresh stronger motor you know.
 
That carb should work fine, unless it has an issue. I've used plenty of them and always worked for me. Like was mentioned earlier, timing been checked? I can't remember if you said it was. If not, check that.

I had a little stumble off the line when I put a 760 on my 440 (I know, different size carb and engine) but tinkered with the timing and the stumble isn't there anymore. I hardly touched the carb after the basic setup, I attached the PCV valve hose and that was it. Stock 318 learn burn swap with a 600 and the engine loved it.
 
Yeah well I think from what my rad fluid look like might have a blown head gasket so might just add that to my list of stuff lol
