Let's see your Newports

My 94 year old Neighbour had this beauty for 30 years. When he had to give up driving last year no one in the family wanted it. My kids used to go for a ride with him and his wife and they told the kids they were going to Kukamunga for ice cream. I have pics of the kids helping him wash it also. Couldn't pass it up. "hop in my Chrysler it's a big as a whale!" That's him in the check shirt in the background

My 73. Couldn't afford a muscle car so I built my own. I've seen big Chevys, Lincoln's & Caddies pimped out but not a Chrysler so I "Dared to be Different".

Original 400 after I waved my magic Craftsman wrench at it. Now it's a 'Magnum 400'

A few custom touches, custom grill, lights & LEDs.View attachment 592548

No hoodscoops, wings or body alterations. Just 2tone paint, magnum 500 rims, side pipes, grill, lighting, window tint and a mean big block. Nothing overstated or outlandish, but it does stand out in a crowd nonetheless.

We call it Project Turd, on account of it starting out a POS & dull doggy doo brown. Now it's shiny doggy doo brown & it gets crappy mileage.
I'm not normally a guy for modifications, but I must admit that yours are very tastefully done. Beautiful car Sir!

Here's my 66. Two recent pictures from a car show and one from when I learned how a poorly maintained 2bbl handles at 13,000'. It was slow going up the hill but lots of fun to drop it in 2nd at a hundred and listen to the fireworks on the way back down.

I bought it as my first car in 2013 at 162k. It just rolled over 244k last week.

Here is CE23N1C107019 as my contribution to this cool thread.

This FQ5 two-door is the only known surviving 1971 sunroof Newport. She was mine for a few hours, and is now in the good care of @saforwardlook (who took the photo below, which I am taking the liberty to repost).

The story of how I found the car in Michigan and bought it in coordination with saforwardlook (with the local help of @detmatt ) is detailed in this thread.

This Newport was owned in the nineties by @hp383: he bought it way back when from the first owner and sold it in 1997 or 1998.

What a neat story. My parents acquired their ’67 in 1970, too; it served as “Mum’s” car and served the same roles in my driver’s ed/first license as your mom’s Newport did for you.

(Simultaneously, I was enrolled in the public school’s drivers-ed program in which the primary training mule was a 1982 Toyota Corolla. Not a coincidence that I’m on FCBO instead of us.toyotaownersclub.com.)

Here's my '67 Custom, purchased in 2019 for the princely sum of $1250, because there was no juice at the key. After I bought the car, I found this forum that night and C-Barge gave me the answer. Next day the car was running.

I hate to say it, but as an owner of the same year NY, I like the front end of the Newport a little more, for their simplicity.

That has to be the deal of the century -- great looking car!

I have the Newport Custom trim for mine (the lower trim on yours) but I haven't put it back on yet, I find it takes away from the beautiful body lines these cars have. But I'm still in the air when I see it on other cars.
I love seeing Barry's car, and I love the Custom trim, I think it distinguishes the Custom from the Newport really nicely. I think it even looks better than the NYer trim, but I'm biased as the photos above will show.

Thanks ayilar. When they have a "show us your 6-window town sedan" thread, you won't believe what I paid for that car!

I love seeing Richard's car as well. And I agree, to me the Custom trim adds to the character of the car. That said, it's just my opinion and I certainly respect those who prefer the car without the trim.
