Last year I found a yard about 30 minutes from my work. There was a 69 300 vert and a 71 Fury III (thought it was a 71 Polara at first) and I ended up picking up a few parts, but forgot to take pictures. Last week, I tried to call but there was no answer so I decided to take a drive on my lunch break to see if they had closed up shop. They were still there, although much more overgrown. Here are a few of the more interesting cars.

Looks like a great place to spend a day! Those box trucks have any goodies?

Loved this old Continental.

Thought this would make a good Continental kit for the vert

Don't know what's hiding back there, but the bees were on guard.

Actually felt bad for the little Chevette.

I think so, one was filled with old tail lights, but I couldn't get too close. Just in front were a stack of old Chrysler rear axles. I was looking for a couple of good steel wheels, but it will have to wait until the fall when the foliage is died back a bit and the bees are gone. Owner's son wanted to crush everything last year, don't know how much time is left for this yard.

Seems like all of the east coast junkyards are pretty much the same as far as rust. Leon's junkyard in Culpepper, Virginia is in the same condition. Thousand or more pre-1978 cars that have been in the mud for 30-50 years....

You should have seen Leons 35 years ago, he really had the cars, a lot of them are still there, but he has crushed a lot of cars. There wasn't much left of them. He hasn't changed a bit.

I love the drive down there on Highway 29 from Maryland too.

I tried to get some Formal parts from this one but the wasps won that day...

I'll throw in some of Stan's favorites. These were the oldest Mopar cars in the lot when I went. Of course, the van is older but usually the oldest vehicles in this yard are always trucks. The true stunner was the 1964 Thunderbird which is the first time I had seen a 60's car in the yard since I have been going for 7 years. I really wanted the engine a high compression 390-4V which was untouched and another stunner.

The T-bird and two, rarely seen in lots, older Marks. How they ended up here rather than on Craigslist is beyond me. Pick & Pull may pay up to $500 for a car and these three were good restoration projects before they ended up here.
