I'm starting to like the 67/68 Imps.

Especially the ones with power vents....

this one has power vents and I love the brass in the car here is one piece cleaned up

Yea...just about all of the interior brass is missing from my car.

So I've worked out my plan of restoration...I think.

I plan on doing a concours restoration (or at least as close as I can make it) on this car so I need to strip everything from the body...problem is I need the stub frame attached to the car for panel alignment.

Therefore I plan to remove/ restore the stub frame first and then reattach/ mask it for the body resto. The only other option is to restore the body without the stub and the front clip parts separately and then reassemble and try to get the alignment right (this sounds nightmare-ish to me try to play with big panels and not chip perfect paint.)

Thoughts?

I recommend leaving the stub frame off before painting the body, so it´s easier to get the paint finished smoothly.

Update: A HUGE thanks and shout out to detmatt for everything!

Early on detmatt offered me the piece of Autopilot linkage I was missing and I connected with him. This was serendipitous because I learned he had just come into a large cache of Imperial parts with the 67 and 64 Imperials he recently bought. My 68 vert sat a long time outdoors under a tarp, and I have a lot of weird interior things (lighters, control knobs etc.) rusted that I am not used to (this is my first convertible). Soon I was making lists.

I received a shipment of parts from him today and cannot say enough good things about the experience. He put a ton of work into taking lots of pics and extreme care in packing! Honest in representation. If there's a college degree for maximizing the number of things you can get into a box, detmatt has it. If you're considering getting parts from him, don't think twice about it. The used items I got from him were almost as nice as NOS and will save me a lot of money in the resto.

Thanks detmatt! Can't wait until the next box!

Awesome Mr C, I figured you’d get it today and I’m glad there were no disappointments.:thankyou: For buying some of my stuff!

By the way I’m going to need all that packing material back.

Snow's melting and spring fever is hitting me hard.

I have spent the last two years buying up missing and replacement parts for damaged/ missing items before I tear this car down for the restoration.

Still missing the headlight scanner. Appreciate leads...some pics of it and one of where it can be found on the car...you can see it between the wiper arms:

Update: Huge thanks to jrdudeman for helping me finally get a headlight scanner! Another unobtanium piece of the puzzle. Another great purchase experience. This site rocks!

Proper original finish on it, not repainted as is often the case.
