My 2018 RAM Longhorn

You're lying. You still have the original tires on there:poke:

I'll have to replace them soon. Just one day at the racetrack (5 passes) ate them up pretty good.

I do have 8000 miles on them. I didn't think they would last this long. I don't do burnouts except maybe 3 practice runs and 5 passes at the track.

Great! My Ram heated steering wheel is fixed!

The service manager told me that the new steering wheel had a scratch in the wood grain right around the 2 O'Clock position. He said he knows how well I maintain my vehicles and knew a scratched steering wheel would not fly. So they went back to the troubleshooting route and said they replaced the seat module and that fixed the steering wheel problem. Everything works so I'm happy.
Wait, wait, wait. Well, I m not.
There was nothing wrong with the steering but they only diagnosed it correctly AFTER the one that came in was scratched. WTF?

Getting mad at these guys doesn't accomplish anything. They do offer a loaner as soon as I show up and eventually get it fixed. It isn't costing me a dime. Complaining to Dodge Cares hasn't gotten anything done in the past.

Exactly... They fixed the problem and Bob is happy... That's what matters.

You must have bumped your head.... :poke:

The scratch has nothing to do with it, they just noticed it after the fact..... I think its great that they were worried about the wheel being scratched and replaced it.
Unrelated is the fact that they finally figured out that the problem was in the body control module that also runs the seat heaters.

Glad you got it fixed Bob!

Sorry, maybe I did bump my head but, I,don't see I that way one bit.
Yes, there are two ways to look at the final result but I believe the actually of the situation is this: they were forced to finally TROUBLESHOOT the problem and fix it it the way it SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE, three trips ago to the Service Dept.

This is why I'm still eyeballing Ford products. Granted, you may say it's a Dealer problem but Chrysler products are currently **** AFAIAC.
Not that I wouldn't give my left nut for a Scat Pack or Hellcat.

I agree with Stan. It should of been troubleshooted correctly the first trip. Maybe it's because of the lack of expertise they have in this shop. These guys (that are still working at this dealer) have known me for years and they have seen what I did with my NYB and other projects. So they know they can't bullshit me with bogus explanations on why they can't fix something right the first time. I knew more about my Ram and Scat Pack then the salesmen that sold them to me. I actually educated them when I test drove them and quizzed them about the vehicles. The conversation changed from what is this and how does it work..... to did you know Scat Pack has this and this is how it works.

That is often the case nowadays Bob. Technicians do not diagnose/troubleshoot like the old days. They plug in the Witech and ask it what's wrong. If it doesn't show anything wrong then there is nothing wrong. The other part of the problem is the turnover in the Sales department often leads to uneducated newbies flooding the floor. Most stores are migrating to the following heirarchy:

Product Adviser (This is the former salesguy who used to do the deal from start to finish now he just talks a bit and shows you the car. He will not get paid on gross profit and will get a flat $XXX for each car delivered. He likely has only been there a couple of weeks and only knows what youtube has told him)
Floor Manager (This is the jacked up youngster who after you talk to the Adviser comes in and starts asking the closing questions. If he determines you are a buyer then the numbers will start flying)
Sales Manager (This is the schmuck in the office who is putting all the numbers together for the Floor Manager to bring to you and the grinding begins. If the Floor Manager can't get you to agree then the Sales Manager will come in and apply more pressure or as we prefer to say help you make an informed decision)
General Sales Manager (This is the guy who by default has outlasted several others and has risen upwards to Manage both the New Car and Used Car Operations. He will set Department quotas and goals then push the team to hit them either good naturedly or by intimidation)

This is the process most Dealers are now following so there is several layers of contact before you are "allowed" to leave without purchasing. I expect the store you are going to is doing something similar.

Exactly!

Whole different class of salesmen and techs from what I remember going with my Dad when he bought all 3 Mopar big block wagons during the 1960's. Or even when I started buying new Mopars in the early 1970's. My Dodge dealer tech was a friend that lived on the next block that had an original 69 Dart GTS 383 4 speed. We did all kinds of things to my 73 Ralleye Challenger 340. Edelbrock intake and Holley carb. Direct Connection ignition system. Hooker headers. Purple Power cam and lifters. B&M txsm with a 3000 stall Holeshot converter. Sox & Martin adjustable opinion snubbed. 4:10 Suregrip. Cool can and a ton of other mods.

We used to bring our personal cars into the shop at night or on weekends hangout drink beer and work on them. Now you are not allowed in the shop without escort and no after hours and definitely NO BEER

Thank God I never have to buy another new car.

That was EXACTLY the dog and pony show I was subjected to several months ago when I went into the store (with checkbook, yet) to buy a new F-150 they advertised. I was ready to buy it at the advertised price (minus all the bullshit phony "rebates" absolutely nobody qualifies for).
After two hours of total abuse against my dignity and intelligence, I left, brought my old F-150, to the body shop and gave them the blank check.
The frikkan dealer could have made the sale at Step 1 in the first five minutes, but..... But because they were just plain typical dealership scum.
They only know two ways to sell a vehicle. Sell every $70,000.00 truck and SUV at a 1% discount at best or rape the Mexicans by putting them into a Focus with 84 payments. I walked in to buy an in stock vehicle at its advertised price and they could not handle it. :BangHead::mad:

And what the f*** is a "Farm Bureau" rebate??? :soapbox:

Sorry to hear that something so simple has to turn into such an ordeal. I take it the advertised price included a rebate you didn’t qualify for under the “Farm Bureau” program? That’s misleading and illegal up here. The advertised price must be available to everyone and include all fees etc only the sales tax is extra. BTW manufacturers are in bed with so many associations government bodies large corporations it’s hard to not find a “special offer” that some unscrupulous dealer will use to be $50 lower than the next guy. At FCA if you recently bought a Case NH tractor we would give you an extra $1000 off or if belong to certain unions you get extra and so on and so on. Military gets a better deal in the states up here not so much :(

I have indicated on several occasions to these people at Cook that I'm interested in a Hellcat or even a Redeye. It seems like they aren't interested in making the sale. If I do pull the trigger on one....it won't be with this dealer. Like i said before there are more than 3 other Dodge dealers within 20 miles of me.

$50 you could have bought a Farm Bureau membership... can't see how it would really matter, because they'd screw that up too. My question is why in the hell would you want to give more $$ to the local folks you already hate... drive a little, find someone new to piss you off.

If you waxed or even washed the current truck twice a year all this could have been avoided .

You left out two other "key" members in the let's buy a car gauntlet.

The bubble headed annoying greeter that charges at you no sooner than you have one foot in the door. She steers you towards her boyfriend (sales "Advisor") that gave her the hicky in the parts room.

The two man tag team clowns that take your trade for a joy ride only to tell you that it's a POS and not worth half of what Kelley blue book says.

Boy what I'd give to buy a car like back in the day....
